More logs.
This one I think I did a bit better, just didn't have time to reinvest darksilver darksilver and go for aeon/sleep while quickened to throw Soulless.

Any suggestions for either of us would be peachy keen.
Kthx.

No advice to give really, except to be an asshole to any monk you meet and just drain/feed. Monk design is so shoddy and crappy, the admin could have done a better job. Katas are just lame.

PPK saves the day!
Anyways. Sticking ectoplasm is a lot like sticking sap, and with a monk, that's not too horribly hard. Remember that you have to be on balance to cleanse or scrub, and they won't end up on balance between katas. Once it starts, drop ectoplasm, and if you think you can survive, drop some balance loss effects. If you don't think you can survive, just web. I'm not sure what you were thinking opening with ectoplasm would accomplish.
Mynd: Why paralyze twice in the same form? Seems like you've got better ways to spend your balance.

I think it's because he wants more chest moves than head moves to make sure they spend more time curing the chest before the ppk crap at the end there, but kumaki is the only chest shofa attack/mod we have (ignoring the horrible kumati) so he just ends up doing it twice.

It looks like you trigger to strike with the tail when it's in position. While that's okay, it's not always the best thing cause say the tail happens randomly? You are a burst affliction class, so you'll want to try and keep it for the bursts. If the bursts fails, you end up starting over generally. So it's like dominating. You want to force opponents to do things before your action but in sequence. Add the tail to that.

I have my tail to sting in most of my alias', doesn't always go off on tail balance.
All in all, after I look back on this fight, I think I did a lot better than I did vs Talkan, but I'm still not getting my archdemon timing down (partly because my timer is broken). So hopefully with a little more practice I can do it.
@ Xavius: I'm still testing out my abilities and see where they work best, I probably should always open with Cold Aura and Contagion huh?

Partly, yes, but I'm also interested in getting him prone/paralysed to begin with, as I'll then go for hook/boganj, then kneecap, then begin the ppk crap. I donno, for some reason I always thought it was better to hinder in the beginning (kumaki doesn't always paralyze twice, too, it's chance, I believe, so I shofa twice to the chest to ensure it going off.)
Any advice, Shiri?

Harsh, but I agree!
Is it true that monks keep attacking through aeon, btw?

And choke, since it's not actually entering new commands.

Doesn't even slow them down? That's ridiculous.
Unknown2008-01-02 19:18:12
When I was a Nihilist, I specifically remember Aeon locking a monk and they killed me shortly after. I posted on it I think.
Eldanien2008-01-02 19:20:14
It's a huge benefit, but it's also a huge hindrance. The same mechanic that allows monks to attack through aeon also prevents them from shifting stance, rubbing enchants, or other such things.
That said, I'd just as soon the kata mechanic go away and let monks toss out forms individually on balance. Or even break up arm/leg balances and throw individual attacks. edit: with some sort of modifier mechanic still applying

Ectoplasm once the form starts will slow the monk down, or make them terminate.. you can usually use scabies off symbol to get passive balance loss, and in some cases you could even crucify to stack with their kata terminate
But ectoplasm at start is a good practice

Fighting Luxi, I got into the habit of waiting for ecto before starting my forms, starting my forms, and then ignoring it if I was decently into the forms. It just doesn't seem to hinder my balance enough to warrant starting from the beginning.
Is that a Very Bad Idea?

The first one is a very good idea. If you're sitting on balance when ecto hits, the nihilist just wasted 1p.
The second, not so much. You're going to slow down (or you should be slowing down) because of the increased balance time from ecto. Then, if the Nihilist is feeling tanky, you're going to get nailed with scabies and web and be on the fast track to sacrifice.

What's scabies? And what're the reqs for sacrifice? If I'm webbed, my kata will end and I'll contort and try to scrub, so I figure if my kata are going to end anyway, might as well wait for the web. At least that's what goes through my uneducated mind.

ectoplasm slows down balance by 50%. the first is fine. The second...depends on the Nihilist really.

Reqs for sacrifice are crucified and four broken limbs. Scabies is a recurring balance loss affliction, similar to epilepsy or blacklung.
Anyways, you don't really want to be writhing under ectoplasm because the writhe balance loss is going to go up too. You do not want to be on a cross with ectoplasm and a balance loss afflict.
