Edit: On second thought... I'm a bit miffed about the admin giving conflicting statements. Do you want conflict on nexus worlds or not? You got rid of griefing through the sea quests but added this quest which griefs MORE than the sea quest/gorgog quest ever could. Why?

Why do you limit quests such as these to specific organizations. You can tell me that the rationale to do this quest can be 'spun' until you're blue in the fact, that doesn't change the fact that by doing this quest, we're helping a Soulless God escape from his prison. So, that means that you'd like only Glom and/or Mag to participate in these quests. Well woopee. More one-sided conflict hurrah!
Xavius2008-01-07 22:56:26
Hey, hey, why're we assuming Glom wants to release a soulless?
Daganev2008-01-07 22:59:50
Yes, why would glom want to be invovlved with a project that lives under a swamp? why? why?

But seriously... I'm not sure how anyone can read the histories and think that Glomdoring would support Soulforge with or without the soulless connections.
Ashteru2008-01-07 23:01:11
Why shouldn't we? tongue.gif

I don't know one way or the other, so I give the admin the benefit of the doubt that more than ONE organization would want to do this quest. I speculate it won't be Celest or Seren, I have no idea about the other two, but it's more likely than Celest/Seren. confused.gif

Please correct me if I'm wrong! Will Celest, Seren, Mag and Glom allow the quest? Do you (Lusternia) think this quest, which will now probably be used a LITTLE more than the UV quests, worth pushing back DMP and the November envoy report? Not really, IMO. Cool knowledge was gleaned from the event, yes, I guess it's just too bad they had a 'stop everything!!' moment for a quest that A) conflicts with what they've said before about conflict quests and B ) won't be used by nearly as many people as are affected by other things they could have worked on.
Hazar2008-01-07 23:02:38
I like how no one's pointed out that Zacc complains about griefing this profusely and then turns around and stripharvests.

The truth is, Glomdoring should not be wanting to do anything with elemental, Cosmic, or Astral, or reaching and getting power from the beyond.

Its been a long time, but I believe Rowena has a long rant about the cities trying to gather power, and the failures of project Soulforge being a reason not to try cosmic hope.

But due to game mechanics and astral being so awesome of a place, it seems like that line of RP never really took hold.
Arix2008-01-07 23:12:44
Yes well, if Zacc keeps stripharvesting he might get another visit from Krellan and them, like last time, and then we'll have to hear him whine about that too

Unless Celest truly has rependted from its ways, there is no reason Celest wouldn't want to do project Soulforge again.

edit: That is, in the histories the fights between the Cities and the Communes appears to be over 3 things.

1. Freedom from the Empire
2. Grasping for power that, according to the communes "We shouldn't have/don't need." (Power Greed)
3. Worshiping Cosmic beings/half formed instead of the Great Spirits.

Actually thusfar the quest does absolutely nothing mechanically. It's been up about 3 hours and nothing's happened. Can't tell if it's just a wait and see or if I need to do something, alas. So nobody's getting griefed! in fact the aura isn't even growing. Maybe it's a weave thing, who knows

Eldanien2008-01-07 23:15:57
How often did Soulforge fire during the event? It may be on a very slow timer.

I saw it after a midnight one day. I was told it fired the midnight previous too, IIRC. Who knows, it's a mystery confused.gif

Except the whole aiding a Soulless thing? O.o

Why does that count for nothing in your analysis? tongue.gif

Because the soulless is deadish now?

Personally, I didn't see it as a big conflict quest. (Recall the sea quests were much more invasive insofar as they used to effect the major city quests, i.e., stopping the celest sands and the spectre quests.) We can modify the Duum quest if it proves to be too much of a burden, but I have a feeling it won't be.

As for why we focused on releasing this quest, I wanted a large event that led up to an ascension event. I feel that occasionally focusing on roleplaying events enriches Lusternia, and its something we like to do a couple of times a year. Sorry if you don't agree!

I don't think you're reading me correctly. Sorry if you don't agree!

Edit: Upon thinking that I don't want to dismiss you the way you dismissed me... I quite agree that focusing on roleplay events enriches Lusternia, and I encourage you to do it, but not when there are other things that should take precedence. Are you punishing the players for the fact that the envoy took so long to submit the DMP report? What about the enrichment caused by balanced combat and addressing the issues that we put forth to you? I wholly encourage you to do this during the lulls like the period of, what, Hifarae to the Reserve? (I believe that was a period of five or six months when nothing occurred, correct me if I'm wrong.) Why not plan some things in advance? I don't know about anyone else, but this area, event, and quest felt a little thrown together. It just seems to me like you have these sudden urges to do massive events and put everything else off for results that somewhat fizzle.
Shamarah2008-01-07 23:34:43
A one-time loss of 500 power from a long and difficult quest doesn't really matter at all in the scheme of things.

You said that you thought we should focus on dmp/envoys/etc. rather than events... no?

Apologies if I misunderstood.
