I -completely- agree with you... But I don't think the admin do. If they did, they'd have done something with the undervault. I just don't think they care about having people do the quests, as long as the quests are there to do, it's the players who are at fault for not doing them, and the admin is okay with that philosophy. We may see one or two tweaks, but I have a feeling it's already off the devs' schedule. Out of sight, out of mind, so it's a good thing you're pushing right now.
I support!

Well I don't know enough about the undervault to say how reasonable it is to make it worthwhile, but I know that something as intricate and multilevelled as this quest. It's detailed and intricate enough, with roots in enough places that it shouldn't just be another worthless quest.
And most importantly you're talking about a total fo 3 or 4 changes depending on how you want the quest to run. It'd take almost no time and would be the difference between "just another quest nobody does" and "hey this is worthwhile".
With that loss of the cloier to the forces of Seren and Celest, I don't think we'll see the Soulforge go up any time soon. It's just not worth the energy it takes to put the thing up when it doesn't appear to do anything, at least not without being up for a loong time (which is unlikely due to the ease of taking it down). Pity, too. I figured out what the cylinder does and everything

It just seems kind of dumb for a the result of a quest to take longer to be noticeable than the time it takes to bring it down. Any quest like that that is activated should fire at least once before it's possible to bring it down. Otherwise.. wtf is the point?

The quest they think was not complted because they didn't awaken the beast.

I wonder when was the last time someone woke up Marani...

Well, then it's stupid to give an honors line for not completing a quest.
I know if I got an honors line, I'd assume I had completed the quest. I mean, having that quest give access to another one would be one thing.. but having the first one do nothing but allow the second one to be done seems kind of.. odd.

The quest was completed. There was no further talk from the NPCs about achieving anything. If there are more steps, the NPCs aren't very good about hinting at it!

oh, then what were you talking about regarding the beast and motes?

The motes is an entirely(i think) separate matter regarding the strength of the Cursed Ones.
In any case, is there any chance that those changes I requested might be implemented? This is a really really cool quest and I'd hate to see it go to waste

Whats it do?
Also, I was killing villagers and noticed that they don't drop nearly as much gold or give as much xp as they did during the event.
Is that related to the motes, or just an event thing?

Puddles of slime and parasites again. Might be more.

That would be motes. I think if you don't kill them the motes grow faster.

There should be more. Much more. The Natatorium only got ot 200 during the event. We're taking it higher.
And we're still waiting on the thing to do its thing and give us the power.

Side thought: What if Adelie took a little bit longer to respawn, say two hours instead of one, in order to encourage people to fight for control instead of just easily blowing it up?

You've been keeping her dead all day rather easily. I'm not certain that making that take even less effort is a particularly good idea.

I'm just tossing out ideas about how to make it less lopsided, since I suspect they won't be making our side any easier. It's rather annoying to see a big group sit on Adelie and know that the moment they go into Muud, my pet balloon is gonna get popped

A group of people having to sit here for an hour to keep the key quest mob (who is stupidly easy to kill) is not exactly riveting and fun. Sitting here for two hours would likely be even less fun.
EDIT: You know what is especially lame? People having an ability that avoids all freaking damage to them while they can still attack thereby nullifying the efforts of a large group of people trying to do a counter quest.
Catarin2008-01-11 00:30:13
Could the effects of this quest please be reviewed? I am not entirely certain what value it adds to the game to have such large power drains in addition to highways that you cannot walk on because you'll get the plague or you'll get killed by parasites if you're not strong enough. Add in that doing the counter quest is extremely easy to stop and we get a situation that is officially "Not Fun".
The mechanics of how to do it are fine but the effects seem way too strong.

You know what I think is extremely lame? How extraordinarily difficult it is to put up, and how extraordinarily simple it is to take down.
Visaeris had to go kill that mob EVERY HOUR in order to make sure that the hours of work he put in to raising it wouldn't get taken down after only a few hours of it being up. I think you shouldn't be able to take it down once it's up for a few days.

The mob takes 10 seconds to kil and he can do it tripleflashedl. It's not that hard. My complaints are not the mechanics. My complaints are the effects. The quest to raise the soulforge is not as difficult as say the UV quests. But it has a huge direct effect on everyone in the game. You can't walk the highways. Power gets drained from the nexus. Why does it have such a large effect? It seems unnecessary.
If people wish to do it, give them a nice reward for the effort put in but do not essentially force the rest of the game to try to take it down.
