Disclaimer: I know nothing about bards.. that is why i am asking so dont slay me ok..

I have been investigating the bard skill set and i was wondering about its basic strategies. From what i gathered i got these below: Please give comments and suggestion as to what the weakness/validity/when is it used/etc of each item.. and also if there is also other things i missed..

Assumption: You play the song before the battle so the effects are up.

1. Glamours/minorsecond -- Cast maelstorm, then coloburst/fascination/etc and wait till transfixed.. then just minorsecond until death.. basically rely on glamours more than the music skill

Added: What is the proper combination of glamours? i.e. fascination first before colorburst..

2. Discordantchord -- Cast attraction, then octave, then try to put manabarbs, egovice, achomaticaura, and powerspike then top it with dischordantchord.. seemed like a long setup.. gust might remove it, etc..etc.. but, can this be pulled off? actually, i died to something like this but that was such a long time ago im not sure if it is this or something else..

3. Atrrition -- try to prolong the fight in such a way that sleep and hunger will take effect.. but i dont see anything in cantors and harbingers that might be used in this way.. perhaps its only for Wildarrane/Necroscream

Which is the most effetive techque i wonder.. the "one" thing an aspriring bard must master if he learns nothing else so to speak..

Anyway, I just wrote this down to get the ball rolling.. All you music masters out there, share your thoughts?

thx

Wouldnt do it like that. Easiest way is to just hypnotic pattern and rainbow the target and fascinate. Then attraction and blast away for the kill. If that doesnt work take turns setting up diffrent room effects right after blank note so you will always be on eq to blank note again so they can't leave the room. Can easily set up maelstrom and octave this way sans gust.

Big thing is to make sure that hypnotic is always up and faeleaf is always down. Would only maelstrom as well as rainbow pattern in a 1 on 1 situation if the target is highly skilled.

i use my patterns malestrom and then put up song effects then begin stacking the 5 afflictions.

blanknote, flare x2, fascinate, rainbowpattern, hypnoticpattern, colourburst x3, blanknote, minorsecond

flare if they eat faeleaf.
Blanknote if they eat earwort
fascinate if they writhe off transfix

I'm sure there are more creative ways to do it, but that's the general pattern. I'm hoping to incorporate queenslament somehow

so on and so fourth.

Use songs before you get into the fight, it will be loads easier and lots less wasted time.

And yes you will rely more on your glamours than the songs, songs are for passive effect, glamours are for passive afflict/damage and transfix, then music for kills :/ your as power heavy as a guardian.

I'm not sure if its a bug or what but i dont think affects work if you use them before your enemy is in the area. Also noted that if you go undead through your song put on sustain turn your song back on you wont be undead if you passed the stanza that turns you undead.

I'm sorry, but what is flare? I see no flare in glamours.. err.. maybe its another term for some skill?

flare stops enemies with blindness and stops them from putting up third eye.

Maybe the scrying pool is not up to date.. i see no flare there.. or i am continously missing it..

Anyway: Why is it that stacking the four afflictions(eovice, powerspike, etc) in conjunction with octave/attraction is not a good strategy? The whole music skillset seems to be built to use that and yet i rarely see it done.. perhaps its too easily countered? or maybe glamours is just that good..

To stop it all you have to do is leave the room and eat some horehound
