-Edit I also remember ratting to 70 because there was no where else to bash at the time, since newton was constantly wiped, and I hadn't discovered the magic that is Spectre isle, so many rats. But I also mapped Mag from doing that, was fun.

I remember when there were no libraries and no books, and people used to store writing on preserved letters.

I remember when Shiri was playing Shiri (and not Nejii), Erion was playing Erion (and not... whatever, he's inactive now) and I was playing Cuber.
When credits were at less than 1000 gold per.
When I borrowed 10 credits from Shamarah to get Aquamancer Staffcast. He was in the Aquamancers too.
When gems used to cost 250-700 gold per one.
Visaeris murdered everyone by investing his demon with Rigormortis.
I killed Nikua, who was both a leader of Serenwilde and considered an elite fighter, in an arena FFA - using demesne effects only.
When Magnagora steamrolled over everything in New Celest. When they had a bad day, in Serenwilde as well.
And the griefing skill of Delude, don't forget.
And Warriors had Accuracy instead of Precision on their weapons. Damage affected wounding.

Overall, removing your pair of Nostalgia Pink Glasses makes you realise these were awful, awful times and it's good they're gone.

I remember before we had aetherships, and therefore no -space, -commerce, or -bubbles.

By delude Cuber means dilute. In retrospect, that was a truly hilarious skill. The old days were awesome fun if you didn't care at all what happened or get invested to any extent. (When Midkemia opens I may in fact jump over there and try to recreate that experience.)

I remember the awesomeness that was contagion. A single scabies would totally destroy entire groups of everyone else because nobody knew that liniment cured it (and had the liniment vials) except for Magnagorans.

I remember stumbling here, decided to try it out, made my first female character, and interacted with Lacostian, then got disfavoured by Hajamin for being OOC then relieved by Lacostian again.

Ah bloody hell, this thread just undid months of therapy, my psychiatrist is going to be so mad.

I remember when people were so pathetic and hungry for gold that they would kill people that were hunting rats and brag about the gold they would make selling the victim's rats.

Psh, I remember Magnagoran Aesyra...whom I didn't like at all.

I remember Val spending hours on end trying to kill the goats, failing about half of the time, and still coming out on top.

I remember freezing being teh uber affliction that resulted in instant death.

I remember Chade as Emperor, and Furloch stealing all the money from Mag.

I remember my first enemy status, when Nikua enemied me to Seren for being involved in the estelbar revolt.

I remember winning the contest to name the Black Soil Conclave. I forgot the name of the administrator who held the contest now. He ended up moving to Celest...traitor.

I remember when peace from vengeance first went in, and one of the Celestians (Ceres maybe?) ran around trying to get all of the Mags to kill her and pacifying them one-by-one until they finally figured it out.

Ah, the good old days.

That's still true most of the time. The exceptions are when there's a new "flavor of the month" guild.

I remember the mad scramble during the first weeks, where it seems half the game was trying to pose and posture and act leaderly so they'd get appointed into the leadership positions. I remember Nikua being so upset he got passed over for Serenguard leadership, and being relieved, since he had been so obvious about his ambitions, and I distrusted him from day one. (Not to mention the "combat training" he offered in which he told people things that weren't even true.)

I remember sitting in Angkrag demesne summoning raiders into a stonewalled room with guards. Especially when raids to kill dwarves constantly happened every few hours.
