The Future of Zugg Software in 2008

The plan for 2008 looks a lot like it did in 2007. Many of the major projects from last-year's list are still planned for this year. Based upon feedback from existing customers, I have tried to prioritize this list this year and have ordered the list by their priority and planned release. Just keep in mind that everything always takes longer than any of us would like, and many of these projects will probably continue to slip until future years. Note that these plans are always subject to change at any time.

MyMUDs.com
As I announced late last year, I have acquired the MyMUDs.com domain and plan to create a website where CMUD customers can store their session files, allowing them to play their MUD from any computer, and also chat about the MUDs they are playing. This will make it easier to play MUDs at both home and work without needing to worry about transferring files. I'm hoping to have the first version of MyMUDs.com ready sometime in February.

Free CMUDLite program
A new, free, "lite" version of CMUD will allow you to play your MUD from any computer. CMUDLite will not require Admin privileges to install and won't have any copy protection. This will be a stripped-down version of CMUD (no mapper, no package editor or shared library), but it will support your session files saved on MyMUDs.com so that you can easily play from any computer. This project is still in it's early design phases, so more information will be provided during the year. CMUDLite will be released sometime after the debut of the MyMUDs.com site.

edit: for those who don't understand my excitement. A, this means the fact that I have 4 computers won't bother me anymore. and B. Now anybody will be able to have a system and guilds can give them out to the novices for learning basics of offensive combat.

If CMUD Lite has no Package Editor, I wonder how you'll edit your aliases and triggers... biggrin.gif

It sounds neat, but... no package editor? Without that wouldn't you be better off using Nexus?

You use CMUd unLite.

The basic concpet is this, from what I read.

You have cmud, you make your system there. You upload it to myMud.com.

You then use Cmud Lite to download your system from myMud.com and use it on any computer.

I think what they're saying is, how does this mean anyone can have a system?

Sure they can download cmud lite, and someone can give them a system, but they'll be unable to make their own aliases for their skills.

You could always write aliases and triggers in notepad and import them, though.

That sounds fine by me. This may give me a reason to try CMUD more seriously.

Or.... like I was saying, each guild can have a set of offensive aliases for thier guildskills smile.gif

Envoys might even be picked for thier system writing skills!!! *cackle*

That's what I was guessing, and it does make sense. If that's really how it's going to work, then I'm looking forward to it, too. I'm hoping to be able to use MyMUDs.com as a means to authenticate people for updates on private packages, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting on that...

I'd be surprised if there were a way around the "no package editor" restriction that allowed import of text scripts.
