Heh. Well you already got most of the skills you were interested in I suppose. I'm a long way from that. But I don't think I'll be catching up with you soon anyway. Later levels are way harder. I'm starting to think that the experience requirement multiplies instead of having a constant added to it.
Shiri2008-01-25 13:09:51
It doesn't multiply, but it sure doesn't have a constant. It's like 1,000, 2000, 3500, 6000, 9000, 14000, and so on. But your criticals get better and you become able to hunt higher-level areas, so you'll manage.
Sthai2008-01-25 18:07:55
In regards to managing to offend people, it's occasionally hard to breathe without offending Sthai, as some people will happily attest to. I would blow it off.

What tradeskill have you chosen, if any? I highly suggest that if you haven't chosen enchantments, that you go for the Herbs skillset. My second character had Herbs pretty high up, and if you are willing to take the time to harvest, there is ALWAYS a need for herbs... alchemists need them, players need them, shop owners need them, you need them. Ideally (this is what I did with my second character) you'll earn money from herbs that will allow you to buy credits to get more lessons into herbs until it's trans, then you can start getting those credits for your other skills, and eventually for artifacts. Take a look at Iasmos... between Trans Herbalism with Gloves of Harvesting and Palisade, the combat system he sells, he's managed to get a full set of artifacts as well as trans in most of his skills(i think... Zarquan correct me if I'm wrong).
In game gold is a powerful resource if you know how to get it. Also, if you haven't started doing questing, that's a sure way of getting good pay outs and experience without having to work too hard. Most of the puzzles in Lusternia are difficult, but not impossible, and if you sit down for awhile and think about all your clues, you'll figure out. What's great about quests here is that they are infinitely replayable, even if you already have the honours line from it, and each time, you'll get the same pay out of gold. Due to the fact that you are Magnagoran, I'd suggest doing the Acknor quest, the Angkrag quest and the Dairuchi quest (assuming that Celest doesn't have it, or you aren't enemied). Angkrag and Dairuchi are good pay outs and can be done over and over (in fact you have to do them over and over to get the honors line) and Acknor is fairly easy.
I am also envious of your level... where did you happen to bash between 50th circle and where you are now? Severian seems to be stuck at 69th circle, and I'm getting pretty annoyed at him for not having the drive to get up off his ass and start hunting again :/

I don't have a constructive answer, so I am just going to be obnoxious and point out to Severian that as a Geomancer, he can't pick Herbs as a tradeskill.
Unknown2008-01-25 20:56:08
Herbs are definitely a good money maker, though I know that won't help here. Yes, I've managed to trans all skills (except Dramatics, which I left just a few lessons short for those times when I earn lessons and need something to learn) and buy more than 15k credits worth of artifacts. It's obviously not all from Herbs, but about 5k credits are from Herbs. At any rate, I always try to encourage people by letting them know that if you're determined to make it happen, you'll find a way and it'll happen for you.
Gaining levels requires exponential experience gains, basically. The critical hits are plenty fun, and just being big enough to stand up to bigger mobs and bigger players is worth the time spent hunting.
If you're interested in combat, you have two paths you can take: buy a proven combat system for whatever client you choose, or make use of trigger lines posted and the advice of others to build your own. Either way, you'll want to spar a lot to gain confidence and refine your strategies for various archetypes and scenarios.
And, remember: skills > artifacts. (Yes, you can throw lots of other things into that equation, like combat system, offensive strategy, and even luck, but that's all beside my point.)

Ah I should've known that seeing as how I WAS a Geomancer.. i was thinking more forestal since I mentioned Zarquan and was thinking about my Seren
Zarquan speaks true though, you have to focus on skills.

I've been bashing at the usual spots. Krokani, Aslaran in the moors, Orcs in Shallach and Spectres in Old Celest. I've the timing figured out so it works in one hour periods with an additional 5-10 minutes to refill vials and get food so I don't starve or rock the chair and meditate so I don't burnout willpower. Its tedious though.
As for my trade skill, I selected enchantment but have not put any lessons into it. I was actually considering switching it to tailoring for the robes that come at Trans (forgot the name). Herbalism might be a good idea too but will the time to gold ratio be better than bashing? Harvesting locations are unknown to me and I'm not sure about the competition or time invested will be worthwhile. Right now, I average about 8000-13000 profit per hour depending on the number of other people who come in later and finish clearing out my precious targets.
Also, a quick update on Melville if anyone is interested:
Claws in Phantasms (Huge thanks to Feyrll for her 15 credit scholarship. She seems to believe that Melville is going to get somewhere.)
Epilepsy in Dreamweaving (Just before embed. I can't wait to get that and try it out.)
Also on a side note to Zarquan, I thanked a few people in the first post (Does not include everyone that helped me because I got plenty more help after that post) including Ethelon. He gave me his system on loan (Yea I owe him credits) which is GREAT because now I get to spar when I get tired of bashing and bashing becomes a lot less tedious with his system. I just wish I wasn't so hooked on trying to learn new skills so I can just pay him. Sorry, Ethelon
Other people whom I want to thank are Krackenor who donated 5 credits (ICly, he believes I'll go somewhere and give the Geomancers a fresh start.) and Veonira for being very patient with me and answering my questions. I feel guilty that I bug her so. Also, Bhairan (mentioned in first post) has given me a total of 6 credits; 5 to get Staff and 1 for FocusConstruct. I'm grateful for all of the help and Melville will do his best to complete his learning and settle his debts as soon as he can.

Revan2008-01-26 10:41:43
You should beg Revan... that guy tosses gold like it's candy. Yea... pretty giving that Revan is.
Unknown2008-01-26 12:24:51
I toss gold, even sometimes credits, like candy, but only to Serens, of course. Most of them seem to not want handouts, which is good in some way, I guess. Trying to share my prosperity with others has been part of my RP for a long time, even before Lusternia. I'm still surprised how difficult that can be, though.

I won't say no to a couple of credits sold very cheap!
Ronny2008-01-26 13:47:48
Hah neither would I, Faymar. On a random note, Claws are insane! I just tried them out.
Ronny2008-01-27 09:50:44
Another question. Is there a list of enchantments for cosmic enchanters and elemental enchanters which I can view? I'd like to know if I can mix my battle strategy with enchantments too instead of just skills.
Thank you,
Ronny
Thank you,

To cut a long story short, look here
Ronny2008-01-28 11:16:17
Thank you, Nariah. Not many enchantments that can benefit me in battle I guess.
Another update, I've got drowse. A bit disappointed but I guess deepsleep should be much better and void after that

Enchantments you should have for combat include mercy, perfection, beauty (when fighting a Telepath or bard?), and cleanse. The cleanse enchantment will be your way out of a "slitlock," as you cannot eat/sip/apply most other cures until you heal the slit throat and slickness. Cleanse removes the slickness. It's also the only way to remove sap.
For offense, you may want to invest in web, sleep, and a couple others. Of course, you'll have some abilities (the Elemental ones) as innate spells you can cast and won't need enchantments for them. Augmenting those with the Cosmic spells will help you do better, obviously.

Ah alright then. Thanks a lot, Zarquan. Hmmm as I can't pick herbalism and there are many enchanters in Magnagora, would tailoring be a good idea? Bookbinding is definitely a dead end for cash I think.
Eldanien2008-01-29 14:54:15
Cooking, Tailoring, Jewelry, Poisons, Artisan, Bookbinding... all of these are rather poor in the moneymaking department. If you're not going to join the legion of Magnagoran enchanters, pick the skill that most benefits your character mechanically, or your character's RP. Or better, ignore trades for the near future.
Though if you should manage to get a shop, you can reassess these trades. Cooking, Tailoring, and Jewelry then become more plausible for moneymaking. Not necessarily great, but you can quickly manufacture up the goods and have your shop selling while you focus your remaining game time on hunting and questing - which are superior moneymakers.

There are three kinds of tradeskills in Lusternia. You can get a tradeskill that lets you be creative; you can get a tradeskill that lets you make money; or you can get Poisons. Pick only one.

I'm going to have to agree here and state that the only reason to pick Poisons as a tradeskill is for a) RP and/or B) the trans skill (Immunize). I regret not transcending Tailoring for Splendors every single day. :(
