...because I can't. I had started my own system in Zmud a few months ago and my harddrive completely died and I lost it. I had been using Zmud because at least for me it seemed more stable. I always get these annoying errors in Cmud. Before I launch into making a system again should I go with Cmud?

I would say CMud, it has its quirks but so did Zmud.
I like Zmud alot, but since Zugg will no longer update it, coding in it will just be an excercise in ancient languages so to speak
CMud will be updated alot especially since most people will make the switch and end up testing it alot more when switching. (I think)

I would say cmud, is you know lua preferbly write in lua but else zscript is fine.

Gah, I tried to learn lua but learning by myself was too much. Hmm...on that topic could you suggest a good book on lua, Anisu? My major problem with it was not the language itself I guess but how I apply it to curing and such. I really wish I could learn it, I don't want it enough to take a formal class though.
Yeah Ildaudid, it figures with Zmud not being updated it would be best to move to Cmud. Thanks for the info!

I used "Beginning Lua Programming" from Wrox, but for cmud you probably best off checking people who used it already (especially some people in imperian used it), I have not yet begun looking how it interfaces with cmud though. (btw if you use mudbot, it is better to put the main lua code in the mudbot)

What are the benefits of lua programming?
Simimi2008-01-27 02:54:57
Script cross compatibility into Linux and Mac, methinks, and speed. Lua is mad fast for data lookup and especially table sorting.

cross compatibility is not so much an issue for cmud, but LUA will mostly behave like you think it would despite any updates to cmud, the second one is however a very important reason. Also the LUA language is a lot more powerful then zscript (which is normal if you think about it)
PS I just noticed Zugg had a tutorial for LUA and some arguments why it is better then zscript http://forums.zuggsoft.com/mx/modules/mx_k...=doc&k=2862

Oh neat! Thank you both.

If you want to learn Lua, why not use MUSH? It's free, fast and doesn't have the bugs that CMUD and ZMUD users claim to encounter. Its interface is not that great, I give you that, but after you get used to it and the keyboard shortcuts, you won't want to switch to anything else.

mushclient is not as user friendly as both zmud and cmud. (although I really have no need for userfriendlyness anymore)
With mudbot there are only a few reasons why I would not use it.
1. Vista compatibility, unlike cmud which is designed for vista mushclient does not make use of the vista way of things
2. When I did use mushclient (more then a year ago) it was annoyware in free version (eg. it keeps giving a delayed access)
3. making a GUI is harder then in cmud

I have a copy of Mushclient and I've tried it and liked it for the most part. As Anisu mentioned user friendly, I definetely need user friendly. I also had trouble making Mushclient look pretty, and if I'm going to be staring at a computer screen for hours my client had better look pretty.
...now how do I make Cmud look pretty?
Gah, so many questions!
But thank you for the advice Faymar!
