Well, perhaps the implication was too subtle... Wouldn't it stand to say that the only way I've seen her be nice to me, is by not interacting with me at all? happy.gif

*zerberts you*

Anyway, I, like, haven't read much of the history apart from the IRE newsletter, but I think I'm already addicted to a new game... suspicious.gif But ahhh I'm feeling so conflicted!

Just stop judging people by what you perceived in Lusternia and focus on what they're doing for Polaris. The same goes for the rest of you whiners, really. tongue.gif

It's mostly based on what other people have told me tongue.gif

Even worse.

Nobody is conflicted because they couldn't stand spending less time in Lusternia then they allready do? sad.gif
Unknown2008-02-11 21:35:46
I've been conflicted on what I should do with Wuy in terms of guild/org, but now it seems I have an answer! Yay!

(I have nothing against Verithrax either; I believe deep, deep, deep down inside of him there's still some semblance of a human soul. But regardless that surely won't stop me from jumping on board this new game nyah.gif)
Ildaudid2008-02-11 22:24:09
I already told him I will make a play about him and whatever org he represents, just to have fun at his expense. (Glommies know what he did) ^^

And I am actually excited about being able to play in a game with Krys again. She can be alot of fun.
Unknown2008-02-11 22:41:21
I wonder if this "Krys' is the same person I'm thinking about/know, or maybe the names are just a coincidence chin.gif

I really hope the game will live up to the claims it's making too, after reading around the forums a bit. Though I'd prefer if there were more 'This is why we'll be good' instead of 'This is why we'll be better than those other guys' tongue.gif

That isn't what "good" means? huh.gif

But it's me. By the property of the :x:, smilies like that should just automatically equate to the :xinemus:

@Shou: Krys is Krysallis (spelling may be wrong) but she was a Sabateur in Imperian, helped my lil Sab out alot there. Dunno any of their other chars though.

Hmm, for all of the talk of Verithrax here, couldn't resist sudden urge to chip in my two cents worth. Had the pleasure of working with him (on some sort of see-krit project) a year or two ago that unfortunately never came to fruition due to some sad circumstances, but he is an excellent designer/idea-hasher/builder. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do over there with a more open rein, same with Haja.

That is what Phred is guessing (aka not a fact). I will ask her later though.

I just suspect it since she was tight with both Verithrax and Mr. Monk, both were working on the other MUD before that got canned. I'd bet money she's Ailsin. (I thought she might have been Anansi).

To be honest, now that they are part of the ToP team, it means a lot more responsibility. They have to attract players, so I think being on the "other side" now they'll see how difficult it can be and what kind of compromises have to be made. So I think having that responsibility will be helpful to those who have been off-put by any personality conflicts. Gods tend to burn out or retire after a few years, so I truly wish them the best.

Based on a poll it seems more people are coming from Lusternia than elsewhere. Hope that doesn't hurt this game.

I see the two biggest things they have to get right is space travel and the PK thing. If they don't do space travel right in an S-F game it will hurt them. The PK thing is always going to be a problem. I suspect as idealistic as one wants to have it, some limits will have to be kept. At one time "conflict quests" were a big part of this game, but sadly some people ruined it for others. There's a sort of "bell curve" of tolerance for players. The advantage is that as the new kid, they can remove any mistakes or flaws from the other IRE games, the drawback is sometimes doing things different leads to their own problems.

Regardless, I make the following predictions.

Open Beta--All other IRE MUDs slow down as ToP gets a bunch of players. It's a mix of enthusiastic people, people who are bored in their current MUD but want to still play an IRE game, people who like the genre, people who like the people behind it, etc.

3-6 Months later--Stricter PK laws go into effect. Traffic becomes more normalized, people leave the MUD to go back to the ones they miss after finding out the grass is greener effect.

1-2 Years later--Longer term players get a little dissatisfied based on gradual changes being made to the MUD. There are some god turnovers. Some of the "fresh MUD smell" is now gone and some people become jaded. Yet new players join up. At this point, the bloom is off the rose and it becomes "just another" IRE MUD.

This just in:

Almost all attacks in Polaris have a chance of missing, unlike in many other games where “magical” abilities always hit. Your chance to hit is based off your statistics, depending on the type of attack, your skill in that ability and a few other factors. Most abilities can also be dodged, which is based off of the target's statistics. Both hitting and dodging can be effected by other abilities and traits. In addition, many abilities have a chance of hitting another target, to include your allies, depending on how poorly you miss.

Woot! All people can miss.

They just released the whole PvP "how it will be working" on their forums. It sounds really nice. Major/Minor balances, Special combo attacks, The whole "Celerity" setup.

It is gonna make PvP awesome smile.gif In a good way smile.gif
Shiri2008-02-15 02:31:43
Wait a minute...since when is everyone missing a good thing? That's like EVERYONE GETTING DODGE. Keep in mind how obnoxious dodge already is!
Unknown2008-02-15 02:33:41
Well... it does add slightly more realism to the game =p

But let us know when the races and classes are revealed... that's the juiciest part beak.gif
