And I've forgotten why I'm responding.

If you want, just try to treat it as an opportunity to pretend he's not objecting to your ideas, and explain them in greater detail. Taking it seriously is a waste of time, so you may as well either ignore it or make use of it.

Here are the other two quests for Lhiannan that I thought about. I like the second one, but the third I have a ton of conflicting thoughts about, especially since it is somewhat more than simply doing existing things, or making new messages..but here it is.

NEXT MONTH/NEXT QUEST

You enter Lhiannan’s room:

She says: “Ah, Astraea, I see you’ve returned, I had begun to worry about your fortitude in this endeavor. Are you prepared for your next task?”

You say: “Yes, bestow upon me your demands, Queen Slaugh.” (Just need to reply Yes, really.)

Lhiannan says: “Your next task is one that will require more resolve than you may have. I require the bindings that shackle the fae, and the golden vestiges of radiance as bright as day. In your dark devotion you must also bring to me a device to which shadow flocks, woven beneath the watch of Solstice and Equinox.

ITEMS REQUIRED:
The shackles of Nifilhema
The lock of hair from Raziela
The shadowcatcher from the Night aetherbubble

WHEN YOU HAVE THEM:

The Queen of the Slaugh laughs heartlessly and tosses the dark shadowcatcher into the air, it lengthens and expands to encompass the entire area, a web-constructed ceiling.

Lhianann Shee-Slaugh proclaims, “Shadows have declared their dominance! May Night’s might cast a pall upon the stunted usurpers!”

With a powerful swing, Lhiannan propels the demonic shackles and angelic hair into the trap of the shadowy web. They stick to its surface, and the web wraps around them with a surprisingly vicious intent.

Lhiannan yells: The Demon Whore and her cadre of daft imps lay no claim to this domain! The Simpering Angel-Child and her cherubic invalids hold no sway here! Mother Night’s darkness enshrouds them all!

The web of the extended shadowcatcher pulses, and its respective prisoners begin to twitch frantically. The web begins to sap power from both of its victims, dark crimsons and effulgent golds transforming into a royal purple that thrums down the strands of the shadowcatcher, tinting the entire construct a deep mauve.

Both relics ensnared within the wyrden web seem to pulse one last time before decaying rapidly, disintegrating into many motes of dust that are consumed by the voracious hunger of the surrounding flora.

Lhiannan says: In an interesting turn of events, it appears you triumph once more, but you know what they say of appearances..return here this time next month, Astraea.

QUEST NUMBER THREE:

You arrive at Lhiannan:

The ground shakes with an unknown force and you are pushed back against the outskirts of this glade. A roiling wind bears down upon your countenance and the trees shudder violently.

Lhiannan Shee-Slaugh screams, “Are you prepared for your fate? Does your heart still hold true to your wish to be bound to Mother Night in this manner?”

You say: Yes! Smite me, oh mighty Smiter! (Quote from Bruce Almighty not necessary. Just a yes.)

Torrents of energy rain down like fire from the sky, the glade itself sizzling with an intangible inferno of rage. Lhiannan’s eyes flare with a dreadful luminescence, and you are flung headlong from her domain.

(Right here, you’re thrown to that one room in the EtherGlom, the blackened circle with emanations of power, or whatever, or somewhere else that’s symbolic, as that room deals with Crow, and could be used for that.)

Lhiannan’s voice echoes through your skull, her words as thorns against your brow. “Bring me what I require! To satiate my hunger you must serve to me one of each fae I desire! I crave the manipulation of the pooka, and the despair of the banshee! I desire the pigwidgeon’s snare!

You bring the three to her: Give them to her, and wait for them to become bound in shadows.

The fae rise up around Lhiannan and chant darkly. Clouds stretch across the sky, and a bolt of shadowy lightning strikes the ground once. Twice. A third time. When the smoke clears, two beings are made visible. The two beings themselves are hazy, as if they are reflections in water. One of the creatures is gargantuan and grotesque, flinging spittle from its lips as it snarls and raves, seeking battle. The other being is strange and dark, the color of the evening’s clouds. It floats softly above the ground, the mouth upon its intangible face quirking in silent challenge.

Lhiannan says, “Slay the beast or dominate the wraith, the choice is yours.”

Now you can either attack the BEAST or influence the WRAITH. Both are at the same level, and the room becomes locked in, making sure you can’t hit/influence and run. There’s a timer so as a prolonged stalemate doesn’t keep people from bringing fae to Lhiannan normally.

After you beat one of the things, the other vanishes, and Lhiannan smiles slyly.

Lhiannan says: You think it at an end, do you? You are bound to the Slaugh now, there is no end, save for perhaps your own mortal one, and even that will not release you from our grasp!

With a lurch, Lhiannan entangles you in her grasp, her face twists into a gleefully savage grin and she whispers ominously, “You may have felt Night’s kiss, but now, wiccan, you will know mine.”

With an audible hiss, Lhiannan attaches her lips to your neck and begins to draw forth your own life essence. She draws back, savoring your energy, and a gasp escapes her mouth. The nails upon her hands bite into your skin and draw blood. Your blood swirls rhythmically upon your body before coalescing upon your shoulder. With a searing pain, the liquid ceases, and where once was blood, there is now an intricate design of a purple mist adorned with a simple silver crown.

Look person: She bears the mark of the slaugh’s shadow.

Also: I think that an aspect of Crow's quest should definitely make use of that Raven mob that's probably sitting around somewhere gathering dust.

clap_1.gif I'm so going to do the quest for Lhiannan if this gets approved!

I quite like this, though as has been mentioned I would really love the ability to bond with the Hart.

Also is this intended just for rp, or was there the chance of a small bonus for bonding. (hee covens with the three avatars represented by their bonded)
Xiel2008-02-17 08:41:27
ohmy.gif Even if I couldn't bond to the avatar/aspect folk, I'd still love to see something like what Astraea wrote down for people. ohmy.gif
Arix2008-02-17 08:55:29
I like it, we need more things like this that aren't just there to give people a bonus

Exactly. Like there are just some things for combat and influencing, I think there are some things that exist just for the sake of arpee.

so your saying if the nihilists didnt have the bond skill you wouldnt see people saying they are closer to the lord of plague or what not etc? its just a waste of time to code it for specific rp when all you have to do is go there and you know Roleplay like you are bonding with the avatar or whatever. hell you can even make it worth wile with a bards help?

Just shup up and move along.

I will approve this idea when it is changed to allow all members of a commune to bond to the respective Aspects/Avatars.

I don't see why Synl the Tracker can't devote his life to Glumki (the single greatest supermob ever.)

Did one for Luna. Not long, since it's 11 pm here and I'm rather tired, but still!

Person greets Luna.

Luna: Greetings, wiccan. What do you wish of me?

Person: I wish to be marked as yours, Maiden of the Moon.

Luna: That is not a choice made easily, nor an oath taken lightly. As Mother Moon is Three, so shall your tasks be, to prove your devotion. Therefore heed my words, Moondancer: bring to me an ailing flower, and a silver sphere of power, and the clover's leaf.

(An exotic plant, silver essence, clover from Butter in Faethorn)

When done:

Luna smiles joyously and takes the exotic bloom from the plant. She cups the flower in her hands before placing it upon the silvery essence, and breathes softly upon it. It eagerly draws upon the essence, as a plant draws water, and soon silver streaks show through the purple of the flower.

The Maiden takes the clover and lays it beside the flower, and soon both are completely silver, shining with a radiance like that of the moon.

Unbidden, as if with a life of their own, flower and leaf twine together, the petals of the blossom lengthening into tapered points like the wings of fae.

Softly, the newly-formed bloom rises into the air and floats gently before you, giving off a fresh, sweet scent evoking the image of clear spring nights in the purity of the wild forest.

The flower settles upon your head, and glows suddenly. You feel a strange surge of energy jolt through you, like liquid silver running through your veins, before the flower crumbles, leaving only moondust in your hair.

Luna says, "It is well, son/daughter of the Moon. You have completed the first part of the ritual with grace. Yet patience is among Mother Moon's teachings, and patience is our way. Return to me when the new month dawns, and we shall continue."

Having that implemented is definitely a real possibility as Morgfyre once hinted to us (Nihilists) that it would be possible to expand Deep Pact tasks to involve a quest or two. Unfortunately, at the time, we could not come up with anything smart but something very similar is being worked on at the moment. Astraea's suggestions look very good and detailed, and gave me an idea or two in fact. So to summarize, I like this a lot and it should be very doable.

PS. <3 Glumki

I think the Admin really wouldn't want to spend the time to hard-code something that the sole purpose is for RPing. When Guardians deep-bond, they usally gain a few nice combat perks, and I think a few othings I'm not aware of because I've never played a Guardian. The death of that cosmic lord that they've deep bonded with usually sucks, as they A: Lose those abilities, B: have to worry about what the lose of a cosmic being causes and C: have to about raising the cosmic being and re-deep-bonding, less they be gimped in combat/other areas.'

To have to spend time and coding for nothing but RP purposes, I can't see the admin doing. I don't really think there is anything, save for minor things like special emotes, that are hard-coded for the sole purpose of RPing. My guess is that if you want to do something a little more interactive, talk to one of the divine and see what they can do about making it a little more interesting.

There would really have to be a lot more then just RP reasons to get something like that hard-coded.
Malarious2008-02-18 01:17:50
Have you met the admin? They are all over RP stuff. Whens the last time you saw a bashing area without RP behind it? We dont even have bashing areas... we have quest areas with slayables.
