Hmm. A thought to go with the quests. Perhaps the quests would differ from each Avatar and focus around what they symbolize or stand for? Like for Moon Avatars, Albion would have quests that relate to the Crone aspect of her, so wisdom and such, Luna would have quests that relate to the Maiden, so innocence of a sort, and Selene would have the Mother aspect, so change and growth.

I wish the Night Avatars had that whole ethos thing. Lhiannan's just a pretty censor.gif, Gwyllgi is a dog, and Glumki likes blood.

We should make up their ideologies in the Shadowdancers. In fact. Yes. That's what we'll do. spider.gif

But yeah! Quest differences for Avatars = Win.

They do have ideologies. They're lovely really, and in the liturgies.

Read the liturgies, GMs!

And it's not too difficult to just extrapolate on their sayings and make up some basic ideas as to their teachings. Glumki, for example, represents the need to always strive for something, for rest and satisfaction bring weakness (to Synl).

Also, can we get divine input as to whether this would be possible or not?

I would like to throw my wholehearted support behind this idea. This is just the sort of thing Lusternia needs. And hey, if they did code in a bonus of some kind, who'd complain? (Aside from everyone not in a commune when it turns out the bonuses are OP and unbalanced smile.gif )

That's why I'd personally prefer it not having a bonus. Doesn't really need it. It could be very cool without a bonus, and available to a wider range of people (you might not want to give the same bonus to Harbingers as Blacktalon, for example).
Sarrasri2008-02-21 00:50:13
It's not intended for a bonus of any kind, besides RP bonuses like emotes, mob reactions, and a desc change and being able to expand on your character more. I thought of this with no combat purpose or bonus whatsoever.
Arix2008-02-22 08:36:20
the in parentheses part was a joke, silly
Sarrasri2008-03-09 19:23:42
I really don't want this to fall off the map so...bump.gif

Denust went up to EtherGlom (a long time ago, IG. Maybe 25ish years ago?) and barked back and forth with Gwyllgi. It was weird, I was bored, and I still laugh.gif ed about it later for no apparent reason. mellow.gif

And as for reading the Liturgies, Shayle made my novie Shadowdancer (when I had him) read them. I can't remember what was in there, but I thought it was nice that the Avatars of Night had some depth to them.

EDIT: I never understood why Gwyllgi was a dog. It didn't make much sense to me for Mother Night, who was all 'beauty and secrecy' to have a dog as an Avatar.

Some dogs are really pretty.

But as for the idea, I love it too and this post is to help keep it bumped up high where hopefully the Admin will see it and say, "Why yes, this IS a good idea!"

My interpretation! Feel free to correct, Night folk.

It would be in my eyes, that Night is also vicious.

Note also, that the black dog/barghest is a thing of myth that ties to night.
Being a spectral/ghost black hound that would be a sign or bringer of death.

Black Shuck, SD's GC pet thing, is one such named hound, in mythology.

Strangely enough, the first thing I thought of was the Grim from Harry Potter, which probably derives from the same thing.. Seems to fit, though! A black dog lurking in shadows, the omen of death, and whatnot. huh.gif
Shiri2008-03-10 14:12:53
There are lots of Black Dogs in British Isles mythology (though not all of them are black) so yeah they derive from the same thing.

I've said it once, and I've said it twice. But since the third time is always the charm...

OMGYESPLS!

I love this idea. A lot.
Hyrtakos2008-04-08 08:58:36
If there are no benefits coming from it, there is no reason you can't do things like this now. That's what designing your own clothes, jewelry, and everything else offers you. To need divine syntax to RP is a silly concept to me.

Look at the pilgrimages and knighting ceremony the Paladins go through. They conduct their own rituals and gain status within the guild and their sects very easily without any official divine doctrine.
Furien2008-04-08 11:19:42
I could've sworn that some of the Paladin ceremonies had some sort of coding involved in them.
