Mysti: For Oldschool... Wizardry 8 was indeed much win, and I've been wanting to find copies of the Fallouts, but no place around here has them. sad.gif Also looking for Arcanum! Not to mention the Ultimas were fun before the company got bought out. Yum.

Recently been playing Heroes of Might and Magic 5 - it's a blast. So's Freelancer from Microsoft back in the mid-90s, for those into free flyin' space shootouts. Paraworld, if anyone'd be interested a Warcraft2-style RTS with dinosaurs (granting it being findable at all). Sweet, sweet giant triceratops rampaging while carrying four archers, yiis. I was a big fan of the Disciples II campaigns, too, and it's entirely possible to get the full gold edition for probably 10-15$ in places now, if not less than that. (My copy was... 6$ from a bargain bin?)

Lys: You're welcome! There's also an Archverse that a group is doing as a smaller project, taking the concept of Archspace and trying to expand it to proper player empires, rather than banding together to make councils. Don't think they've gotten too far, though.

Every try Puzzle Pirates? Its pretty fun. It has a similar pricing model as IRE. Play for free, earn gold to buy extras. I'm a big fan of the game. Stop here if you don't want to read a fan girlish review:

On the Dubloon servers (the free servers), you can basically do everything without paying a dime. Some things you have to schedule for, though. For example some of the parlor games (spades, poker, swordfighting, etc) are free on certain days.

You can be a pirate for free, I think. This means that you can job with crews that are sailing around pillaging and battling other players/NPCs. But to be anything above that, you have either buy a officer badge or above. Officers and above are able to sail ships and take out crews to pillage and stuff. If I remember correctly the lowest badge is about 1-2 Dubs, which translates to about 1400 gold, depending on the server . But you can make that on a good pillage. Badges last 30 or so logins, not 30 calendar days (all badges except for the labor badge, but that's another story).

Other cool things are the ability to be a trader, merchant or gambler or whatever. I had to stop myself from writing about a bunch of other features. Just try the game out. If anyone wants I have a few badges that I'm not using that my lusty friends are free to have if they want to try out the game. smile.gif I'm usually lurking on the boards or in the game. I always have my Yahoo on, even if it says I am offline: Blkdragonfli

Free MMOs... I've had poor luck with, to say the least. If the reviews/list thing is just free ones, I can name a handful of Korean hack and slash MMOs that I recommend to no one. Since the gameplay is excessively generic enough to apply to every one I've touched, I'll leave that as a horrible blanket statement (this is not to say that Korean MMOs = bad, just the ones you normally see are). If we're talking in general, I can rattle off a hefty list...

However... ShadowBane is free as others have said. I managed to play it for a... very brief period of time, so I can't really give it a good review. The game is actually getting rebooted soon, so everything is going to be reset to, effectively, what it was on launch day (if this hasn't happened yet). Anarchy Online is also free so long as you never purchase an expansion pack, which is largely possible. I didn't fiddle with this too much, but it has a fairly decent community with a lot of events/activities and is fairly solid gameplay-wise compared to most older MMOs. Its Sci-Fi and has some team-based PvP.
