Beavers...
... are very annoying when they try to build dams and flood the dirt road that a few people (including me) live along.
I don't like beavers for that reason.
Oh, and Toronto: Please stop sending me your snowstorms. I've had a few too many of them. I'm not looking forward to the next.

Don't you be dissing our beaver!
Chasing Beaver!
Pet beaver!
Oh yeah, Regina Saskatchewan. Home of flat land, flat women, and flat beer (but only cause we buy so much to get over the flat women).

I'm in Ottawa, the only Lusternian that actually lives there I think (some go to school here though.) Some winters we barely see snow!

Beavers in the news!

You can file that one under "only in Canada."
I'm in Montreal and moving to Toronto in the fall for law school. I'm very excited about moving to a marginally warmer place.

I'm in Toronto for school, although was recently in Halifax and less recently, Ottawa, also for school.
Toronto's far too warm... darn rain's melting all my beautiful snow. No skiing for me

At least Ontario's great for our random new holidays.

And they talk funny, eh?
Unknown2008-02-18 20:47:56
No, we really don't. I mean, I do say 'eh' a ton, but that's just because it fits so well at the end of any statement, question, etc. But I have yet to hear any Canadian say, "A-boot."

Hey, they're our beavers, too.
And they're not friendly! Little flood-hazard-in-the-making pests. Hmph.

That's because no one actually says A-boot but the Americans who think they're making fun of us.
Fionn2008-02-19 06:38:13
The Yoopers I've met use "eh" way more than any Canadian I've met.

I was talking with a Canadian friend about this the other day. Most Canadians deny it, then go on to get caught doing it on American TV. There was a classic moment on Rosie O'Donnel's old show when she had someone on (I forget who right now--I can probably find the clip if someone else remembers it) who insisted that neither she nor anyone else she knew ever said "aboot," and when she did say it later on in the interview, Rosie jumped back, pointed, shouted out, "She said aboot!" and the audience laughed. Lots.
Kharaen2008-02-19 12:53:18
A-boot is likely said from a Newfondlander. Pretty much anyone who lives in Canada will have an accent (I sound americain apparently), but Newfies have that kind of accent and speaking mannerisms.

I grew up out east, and have relatives there who say a-boot. It's common enough out there, not so much in Ontario.
But 'eh' is a staple everywhere.

Can be a tad odd when you are randomly thrown together with family you never see but eh!
(funny as hell to read though)

Apologies for posting this a little late...
I'm from a town just outside the GTA, east of the city. Somewhat close to Scarborough.
And yes, we have snowbanks crowding our streets as well.

Hmm, very close to Dylara and me, then. Well, like 30-minute drive close.
