Monk stuff not related to combat...

One of the most disappointing things I faced as a monk, was the lack of the coolest aspect of being a monk in the other IRE games, was the performance katas. I was even more heart broken, as it looked like we had a beautiful system with which to create and build our own, but alas no such luck...

One of the things I would love to see would be the ability to design 'performance' katas. At the least, make katas be able to be used without a target, just go through the motions. (Great for debugging katas...) Or allow a more complex, system in which we can hold finishing kicks, or so on, to show off some.

Another thing I'd love to see is the ability for two monks to engage in a non-lethal duel. They match up, agree to the duel, and no afflictions are given, and it works somewhat like a debate. They can only use one form at a time, no chains, and if they set up defensive stances. If they stance bad, they get hit, and so on. First one who gets hit three times loses. This would be a neat addition, plus it would allow friendly contests in guilds, ways for people to handle issues without killing eachother, or all RP between the guilds, two monks see eachother on the road, neither really want to deal with the jumpage if they kill eachother, so they agree to see who is the better monk, and so on.

Sample:

kataduel

This skill allows the monk to engage in a battle against another monk that will not result in anyones death, just a demonstration of the better monk.

Commands

Kata engage
kata engage accept

Forms:
kata engage punch : This form delivers three fast punches to the opposing monk, in an attempt to break past his guard.
kata engage kick : A power kick designed to knock a monk out of his defensive stance.
kata engage combo : A powerful combination of kicks and punches that delivers to hits, but is stopped by most stances.
kata engage sweep : Prones the unprepared monk.
kata engage finish : If a monk is prone, the standing monk can land a finishing blow to win the fight.

Guild Specific Forms:
Shofangi:
kata engage bullsfury : Viscious shofa swings that will force the unprepared off balance, and the prepared out of their stance.
Tahtetso:
kata engage reach : Using the length of the tahto, the monk strikes out from a distance, ignoring the effects of counter-stance.
Ninjakari:
kata engage rake : The monk sweeps his chains across the floor, catching the feet of the other monk, and bringing him to the ground, or if he is prepared, knocks him out of his stance.

Stances:
kata stance high: A high defense designed to block punches.
kata stance kick: A low defense stance designed to stop kicks before they begin.
kata stance balance: prevent being knocked prone or off balance by being nimble.
kata stance counter: A pure defensive stance designed to turn the momentum of the next attack and prone the attacker.

Guild Stances:
Shofangi:
kata stance bullstance: A stable, all around defense that has a chance to block all attacks, although it becomes less effective after each attack.
Tahtetso:
kata stance staffspin: A block the next blow that comes in, and deal a hit.
Ninjakari:
kata stance speed: sacrifice all defense for a boost in speed.

Once a Duel has been engaged, both participants are immune to all forms of damage. They must be at max health, mana, and ego first as well. Agreement to engage can not be forced.

So basically it would be Paper/Rock/Scissors for monks? Could be cool. content.gif

Let's make it so, although I think that the Ninjakari guild stance could be changed...but that's just me.
