I don't see why there should be rewards for not being able to keep your legs closed in the first place.

Then there's the whole issues of the poor morals the Admin must have for teaching any teenagers playing this game that all you need to do to be great in this world is to just pump those kids out till you've got 50 or so. laughing1.gif

Why not, it's like Lusty's idea of welfare

*wince*

ok, maybe that was wrong.. but having a lot of kids shouldn't be looked at as wrong, nor having a big family..

Mary and Joseph have 3 sons. Each marries a woman, and each has three kids. And the next generation, is the same.

Not a long family, and it's already close to 50. Nor is it filled with skanks and randy husbands, as some would have you believe

Although I hate being the lone dissenting voice since Gabranth's family is never likely to get 50 people given his poor record in relationships and Revan chronically driving people away, I will still comment.

Don't push your failures on me, Gabby boy. The only people I drive awa are people who are idiots anyway. Quality. not quantity.

And by that time, Mary and Joseph are dead, unless they started when they were teenagers, and taught their kids to do the same. ohyeah.gif

I don't think a concept like this should be given that much extra benefit. A manse to work towards or increase by more family members will absolutely shred any pretense of being selective with family. d'Murani and Dekoven already take a lions share of new people in their respective cities. If new people are just a new room, where is value in making them family?

In effect they will be 1/15 people needed to give a more senior family member their own bedroom. I really don't see any benefit in reducing the value of families when great houses already kill diversity in their base organisation. New families should be encouraged to flourish not rewarding the heavily entrenched ones.

Agreed on several points. I've not experienced much meaningful family RP in the Dekovens for years and years IG. For a certain point in time, I actually did think that kids were being made Dekovens not long after they left the Portal, and I've never known many RP reasons for that. I know Meliana and Raflein disagree with me completely, in-character at the very least, but as they near the 30+ kids mark (not counting suicides/deletions from inactivity), I can't help but feel that being a Dekoven is very hollow. mellow.gif

And there aren't many other prominent families in Celest. Luminare, Shervelian, Dekoven, Inalai (or however they spell it)... how many others? Not many come to mind. I don't have much experience with Magnagora, but it sounds like it's the same over there. We could use more diversity.

I am (to the best of my knowledge) the only one who feels this way, so I suppose Denust is just the black sheep of the family. Another "sole dissenting voice", as it were.

Now, what if Great Houses could declare official enemies of the family?

Much like Orders can declare allied and enemied Orders? Declare entire families as enemies? That would be quite interesting.
Saran2008-03-05 04:25:08
oooh oooh implement glory and reward families for decimating their enemied families
Lokin2008-03-05 04:27:32
I can see it now...

Grab yer weapons, we're a feudin' wit the McCoys!

The Mes'ard and D'Murani could beat all those who near great house in to the dust until the fates just give up and benefit from it!!! happy.gif
Lokin2008-03-05 04:41:55
That does sound like fun.

I'm in.

But it should prolly only be great house vs. great house, to be fair.
Shiri2008-03-05 04:47:27
Are there any houses other than Talnara, Mes'ard, d'Murani and Dekoven even -near- Great House?

Do the assimilated ones count?

If you don't like the family IG, why don't you quit? No one should be a part of something they think is completely worthless, and no one would dream of keeping you from leaving something you dont want to be a part of.

To be fair, quitting won't do him any good since he can't join another one anyways.
Saran2008-03-05 05:21:30
It's called... marry a mes'ard >_>
Rika2008-03-05 05:25:04
Who'd want to do such a silly thing?

The Talnaras is where you'd want to be.

Yes, but who wants someone around who doesn't WANT to be around? I certainly don't. Greathouse or not, and regardless of what Denust believes IC, we're about quality over quantity. Mel and Raf do have ALOT of kids, but they enjoy each and every one. They don't pick straight from the portals, they get to know the kids, and if they like them, they go on their gut feelings. *shrug* Perhaps Denust should and leave.
Unknown2008-03-05 05:27:56
@Saran: dots.gif

The reason why I don't leave is because I'm trying to view this in a wholly RP sense - that is, Denust is part of a real family. To up and disown your entire bloodline would be, in real life, a very serious and irreversible (for any number of reasons) matter. Leaving just because he isn't getting along well with many people would be pretty shallow and childish. Look at the La'Saets. They have THOROS (even though he's technically d'Murani by marriage now).

EDIT:
@Rika: dots.gif

There are such things as shameless plugs, people.
