What I'd like to see is the Death crown blessing only work for the org of the one who holds it. It almost seems like novices from Celest now are being told to come to Serenwilde and use our catacomb map from the frequency of it happening. (I've seen Celest novices come from portals to Serenwilde and touch the map.) Just seems odd that those not blessed by the domoth of Death on that level can use the blessing.

Not really... the blessing is the map at your Nexus as I understand it, not the map with a lock attached.

You could always starting enemying people but if they're not enemies it's not really..hurting you if they walk over there is it?
Sarrasri2008-03-25 21:47:53
It's not, but then those in Seren don't get the benefit of a crown blessing if it's any of the other thrones, besides Nature, if Celest was to get it.

Celest doesn't get the full benefit either-- they have to go portal hopping to even get there.

Just be happy Celest actually helped SW get a True Ascendant, who could compete in domoth challenges and win nice little blessings for his commune.
And if we're really going to address your complaint, let's change sceptres to only benefit races within your org.

oh noes, they have to walk from a portal to the seren nexus.. kinda like yanno, serenwilde has to do to use the map too (walk to the nexus that is)
Heck, novices have it even better "go to portals, go through serenwilde portal, touch village" Which probably explains the vast increase in Celest novices coming through lately.
As opposed to (assuming the novice wasn't already at the nexus) "goto portals, go through celest portal, touch village"
Malicia2008-03-25 21:52:46
I hope you and Sarrasri realize how petty a complaint that is.

They do? Serenwilde lost the ability to TELEPORT NEXUS? Poor guys.

Malicia has a point, actually. Though I can see your problem, random novices using something in you commune, traipsing in and out all over your plants, not asking permission, more that likely, that is the price you pay for having a gift such at this.
Perhaps the Admin can make it cost power to use it if you are not a member of the Commune/City with the Catacomb?
Or, perhaps make it to where only the commune/city members can use it, and have to take someone through it, and then return back.. Charge a toll? I dunno, just ideas
Xenthos2008-03-25 21:58:34
The Enemy command exists if people are making nuisances of themselves (by intentionally trampling plants and the like).

Still, I don't get her point. If you don't want outsiders in your territory, 'using' something that's yours, why let anyone shop there? Why let anyone transverse through your nexus? Why let anyone use a rift on org property? Sarrasri's basically whining about absolutely nothing.

Oh yes, I like this idea.
Since the map gets located to a nexus, make the map require power from the type of nexus it gets attached to.
So it costs 1 power to use the map, and that power must be of type (type of nexus map is attached to)
easy coding, and is solves the problem!

Personally, I couldn't care less if Celest had helped Seren or not, so there's no need to bring that up.
So lets just look at what the help says.
QUOTE
Domotheos of Death
o Minor: Bless a race with an increase in endurance and endurance
regeneration.
o Lesser: Bless a guild to give an aura of vengeance that will attack
those who kill its members. (Guild members who kill their own will not
trigger this effect.)
o Major: Bless a city/commune to summon forth a permanent Catacombs of the
Dead at the nexus of power.
So, that implies to me that the blessing is for the city/commune that gets it and not the city/commune and whoever can freely pass through that territory without dying. Celest doesn't get the def line that says they're gifted with the major blessing and if Celest had the crown, Seren wouldn't get the def line either. Minor blessing also isn't the major blessing. It says race, not "those of that race in your organization." so you understandably realize that it's going to affect people outside of your organization. I'm just saying when it's supposed to be the city/commune blessing, shouldn't it only affect that city/commune?
My suggestion is just to let those with the def line of being blessed actually use it.

Whether they are walking to the nexus or teleporting to the nexus they still have to -get- to the nexus. This is the part where understanding what was meant in the words, as opposed to just reading the words, comes in.

Well, to be honest, I have never even used a Catacombs, so I really don't know the idea, besides touching something on a map. Maybe they get mad because they have all these random people traipsing through their area. Maybe they can move the Catacombs a room away from the nexus, so they don't get as much spam. Sure, it might be a bit selfish, being possesive of such a gift. but it is also understandable, to a certain degree

If that's the case, you didn't bother to understand my post when you commented on it. You should really take your own advice.

Actually Sarrasri isn't whining about nothing. She has a very valid point. The catacomb map is a pretty decent boost for an org, why should it be a big boost for the org + whoever isn't enemied? Any other Major blessing that affects just an Org is not the Org + whoever isn't enemied.

Somehow, I don't think the Celestians in question are novices in the true sense. I mean, the map isn't self explanitory. For that matter, the whole village system isn't self explanitory, really.
I'm more curious as to why it's mostly Celestian novices. I can see Glomdoring "novices" avoiding Serenwilde (apart from the true novices that do wander in from time to time, and wonder why people seem upset.) But I'd think that the steady tide of Ninjakari not-really-novices would be there as much as Aqua Spouts.
Maybe we should set up a novice shop at the nexus! We could sell cheap clothes, and healing potions, and basic weapons, and propaganda pamphlets, and tickets for the non-existant Serenwilde Dragon ride!

There are better things to complain about. I'm the one who got the map in the first place (3 times in a row now, woohoo!) and I think it's fine with anyone not Glom/Mag used it. The map appears near-immediately anyway. And geez, it's the nexus, if you can't stand the spam of "Bob touches the map and poofs." then you probably shouldn't stand there.
Edit: Also, before the map, whenever Celest owned a village I needed to go to, I just portalled over to Celest and used their paintings. That's right, OWNED. Also did the same with Mag before I got enemied.
