You made the critical mistake of fighting Narsrim.
Between Trueheal, Hermit, Starleaper and cubix... you're not going to be able to kill him without a group of people to stun the crap out of him or crucify or something.
Sorry.

Don't hit shield so much!
Unknown2008-02-26 23:00:05
Don't shield to avoid Inquisition. Despite what the combat gods say, it never works.
And yes, trueheal/cubix. You will never kill Narsrim alone. It has nothing to do with skill. It's just a really annoying(and broken) mechanic of the game.

Wow, Ethelon's system got annihilated by hypochondria.

I seriously doubt Krin would really kill anyone who is a competent healer if the person just stood there, hindered a bit, and ate a bit of food once in a while to deal with the passive hunger.
Also, I would suggest to Krin that he does not take advice from a person who has not established himself to be proficient in any class he has played. I mean acrobatics and demesnes make it extremely easy to avoid being Inquisitioned. If a person transcendent in either of those skill-sets can't avoid being Inquisitioned, then the person really should not be giving advice on how to deal with it.

The combat gods have spoken!
Thou shall always be in an active demesne.
Reality is, Mugwump Narsrim can spit out web, paralysis, inquisition faster than you can run. He can deny it all he wants.

Thoros was a mugwump Celestine too, and I avoided his Inquisition attempts when I fought him outside of a demesne as a mage. So just because you can't do something, does not mean no one else can.
Oh, and Narsrim paralysis is on an 8 second cycle. So I don't see how mugwump is helping that.

What could i have done to make this work
1) Carcer means he plans to break your group, all of your group should try to tumble somersault or something together, as chances are someone will be left behind from carcer to which he will move and icewall. Luciden is an easy kill you couldnt really save her even if it was all 3 of you togehter, she just isnt a fighter.
2) Wouldnt bother putting in the time to put up maestro in the room, you could make better use of the time. The stripping defenses was good but you should also watch for shield and earwort to know when to blanknote em. Proning and especially stuns work really nicely when you have a ninja with you.
3) Shield whoring will not beat a mugwump. Believe it was by design that breaking a shield is faster than making one, I have never tested that so dont bother to take it for note until you check. If you want to escape inqui I would suggest trying to spam avoid if you have it at a bonus, (like timeslip whoring for acro.. sucks if its on balance, which I could see being entirely likely).
4) Watch those shields!
5) Watch those shields!
6) Focus on trying to keep him in place, perfectfifth and transfix are some of the better options. Get some practice trying to keep someone in place in a wargames or something, call it a training exercise.
Time to check my stuffed chicken!

krin, why are you singing at the start of the fight? there were large segments in here where you and narsrim are facing each other, and you started singing a lot of stanzas.. what was that? couldnt you have put it beforehand?
AND worst of all -- after putting so much effort singing it, you allowed it to fadeaway afterwards.. huh?
all those time wasted putting up a song, and then just like that it was all over.. put at timer that will flash something like "REFRAIN REFRAIN" so it doesnt fade away -- or just not sing and blast narsrim with minorsecond. At least you get him to waste a few potion sip
man, watching you sing while narsrim is pounding you is painful.. :wince: you were open for such a long time. Inqui was being setup and you are standing there singing.. which is a little funny btw. Its like you telling narsrim "have you had enough, or you ready for more?"
You should always sing it first somewhere like the megalith.. sustain , then refrain when you need it.. or run a few rooms, sing, then go back.
I hope you get what I was trying to say?
Stop singing 9 stanza's in the middle of the fight
But -- octaves problem is demonstrated in here.. people see it, go out of the room immediately and beckon/tackle you out of it.. or just even gust. its very easy to remove.. so maybe not recommended as the first spell.

wobbles with trembling notes.

Narsrim raises a gleaming symbol of hope towards you, and a scintillating beam

The Light of Celestia overwhelms you, and your soul is purged from your flesh.
You have been slain by Narsrim.

Here's the thing. Krin made a post. Asked for help. Didn't complain, didn't whine. Just asked for help and provided a log. You, with your infinite Godly knowledge of all things Lusternia, could only come up with "You suck." I told him shield doesn't work against Narsrim. You spout off more BS. Just be helpful or be quiet. I'm sure your mommy taught you how to do that.

Honestly at the end of the fight i was thinking the only way i can stop him was to starve him out.. thus all the singing.
Shamarah2008-02-27 03:11:13
Isn't the hunger passive? I could be wrong, but I don't think singing it over and over does anything except reset the timer.
Unknown2008-02-27 03:13:44
No, It ticks away hunger level each time you play a stanza. Its passive in the respect that you dont have to play that stanza to get the effect.

I see you are incapable of countering my point, so you go into trying to insult me. My post was directed to your statement of futility. I on the other hand pointed out that it is possible to avoid what you say is impossible. I also gave an example by using myself as a mage outside of a demesne and another Celestine who was a mugwump at the time. So essentially, who was actually helping here? Was it you with your point that it is "Impossible" or my point of showing that it is possible, and that I know because I have personally done it before?
I also pointed out that it is best to actually listen to people who know, instead of people who only think they know. Just because you sit here and say something is impossible over and over again, does not negate the fact that others have and continue to do what you can not.

This is not correct.. each time you play a stanza, the powers inbued in that stanza will take effect and not another..
Sickeningplague can only be imbued once you know.. so it should only start to tick only when you play the stanza where sickeningplague is imbued.. if you play the other stanza's it should give the effects imbued to them and not put up sickneing plague again..
i.e. if you imbue like this
stanza 4 sickening plague
stanza 5 Enginewords
playing stanza 4 will cause hunger to tick.. but playing stanza 5 will not because it will be for enginewords.. you will have to wait maybe 10sec to see the hunger effect again.. but since youve already put it up, the song it will take care of itself.. he will hunger passively everytime it ticks and you dont have to sing it anymore..
Now -- if you want to make hunger tick over and over again.. you need to use refrain like this (assuming you are at the stanza where hunger is imbued. ie. stanza 4-6)
perform refrain hungersong
-- wait for balance --
perform refrain hungersong
and the stanza will tick over and over again.. -- Although in this case you will lose the higher stanza skills because you will be refraining a song in the midstanza..

I see, I guess i've always had it wrong then..
