Glomdoring Monks

Back to Common Grounds.

Ok, I know I've been gone, but I don't think I've been away so long that I've missed the release of the Glom monks. I'm so curious and I wonder what they will be like. For some reason I'm thinking of monks that made packs with the dark forces of the nature. So they tunnel through the ground, shoot out and attack some hapless victim, like a landshark. Or maybe they can turn their limbs into stone and have increased attack power. Or, maybe liquidify their bodies so even if attacks connect, they pass right through their bodies.

Yea, crazy ideas. Forgive me, I've been working nights now along with school and I haven't been to sleep for over 24 hours.

Think hybrid between Shofangi and Ninjakari wielding claws? I realize that each new monk guild is more powerful than the last, but there's still plenty of room for OPness without going elementalist on 'em.

though it would make sense for tainted monks to channel Earth

*flees*

For some reason I'm thinking of shadow-pinning scenes from Naruto. And I don't even watch Naruto. blink.gif

The prospect of the Glom monks has got me a somewhat interested in playing Lusternia again. Hopefully they're out soon!

Just a quick question.. do Monks have access to the Hunter skill? Cause I like that skill and don't really want to have to forget it..

The monks of Glomdoring will fight with wrist blades, so they can cut themselves afterwards.

How does Hiro fit in to this? He doesn't fight with wrist blades.... I mean, FutureHiro is emo, I'll give you that, but it's a tenuous connection at best.

Seriously? It seems like an obvious connection to me, I mean, forest of shadows? Setting of one thousand bad emo poems?

I would have thought someone would have picked up on that.

I have no clue, I just googled "Emo Monk" and I got a slightly emo-looking asian man (since he's asian he qualifies as being a monk), who I then used as my monk mascot.

That's the guy from Hero's? Wow, I have to finish watching. (I'm still on Disk 1 of season 1 crying.gif )
Rakor2008-03-22 02:52:09
what
Kharaen2008-03-22 03:12:29
Glomdoring doesn't produce monks. We have to import them.
Callia2008-03-23 02:27:03
But you import good ones, hehe.
Bashara2008-03-26 14:27:13
Really, I would've thought the Ninjakari would be more of, well, an elementalist monk. Channeling aspects of geomancy into passive buffs (damage reduction, +dmg, w/e) and then maybe some earthy attacks. Honestly, I thought Glomdoring would get the stealthier/tricksier aspects of monks.

The monk class piqued my interest at first, but now it's just a whole other class with new afflictions to code, in addition to learning how to be semi-effective against them. I still can't fight bards.

Call me jaded, but I'm kinda sick of all the OMGAWESUMSAUCE stuff that keeps being released when we're still having balance issues with the more established classes, skills, racials, etc.

Definitely. I have a broken wagon wheel. The solution is not to build a fifth, square wheel in the back of the wagon to help it limp along, the solution is to fix the broken wagon wheel.
