Unnerfing Races, and improving in general

Back to Ideas.

So, I got bored today at work, and got to brainstorming ideas to improve the races, especially those which don't often get play time.. like dwarves, and such. You know, Aetolia, that bastard child of IRE has some stat/skill increases at certain levels, moreso than we do.. So, here are my ideas, flame them all you want, but I would rather feedback/ideas/opinions. These are entirely seperate, feel free to say which you like, and which you do not, of course. Anything with / in it is options, IE all, some, or suggest some.

Dwarves

A Dwarf who takes the Axelord Specialization, become a (insert adjective of your choice here) Dwarf, with these stats : +2 Str, +1 Dex, - 1 Chr, -1 Int, +2 size.

At Level 25, Dwarves gain the Giantslayer ability, a passive skill which gives a dwarf a decent chance to evade melee blows from an opponent two sizes larger than him or more, as well as giving him a chance to do more damage upon making a critical hit .

At Level 50, Dwarves gain the Deepstone Dwarf ability, which gives a passive bonus to his physical defense when in an underground location (( Undervault, and whatnot))

At Level 75, Dwarves gain the Hand of Klangratch ability, which when used, takes balance, but the next Melee attack used is automatically a critical hit, and if that skill were already going to be a critical hit, will make it the next most powerful type, IE Critical becomes Crushing, Crushing would become Obliterating, and so on.

At (Insert Level here), if Axelord is taken as a specialization, a Level 60 or higher Dwarf may wield a two handed ax in each hand, with a slightly slower balance recovery when striking.

Dracnari

At Level 75, Dracnari become an Elder Dracnari, with these stats : +1 Str, -1 Dex, +1 Size. He is then able to specialize in either the before mentioned Elder, or an Icewyrm Dracnari, with the same stats changes, however his breathe weapon becomes coldbased, instead of fire, and his Level 3 Weakness to cold becomes a Level 1 Resistance to cold, and his Level 2 Resistance to Fire becomes a level 1 Weakness to it.

An Elder Dracnari's fire breathe is greatly increased in damage, causing deepwounds as well as the normal fire damage/status, and possibly causing one's clothing/Armor to decay some, or in the case of metal armour, cause damage on a regular basis for a small amount of time (Hot Metal). On the other hand, an Icewyrm Dracnari's coldbreathe causes deepwounds/frozen, as well as possibly blackout/blindness/dizzyness. This, of course, may require an added balance/equilibrium.

At Level 25, a Dracnari gains the ability to PROJECT CLAWS, giving him not only a slight boost to hand-to-hand damage, but also enables him to decapitate a corpse, regardless of guild. This gives his punches added cutting damage. Should this Dracnari reach Level 65, his claws extrude a random venom, decided once a Lusternian month. ((Like an aether fountain, so to speak, random venom))

Aslaran

At Level 50, an Aslaran becomes Aslaran Noble, with these stats. + 2 Str, +1 Dex. This Aslaran is able to regain health faster from sleeping, however, in daytime, is slower to awaken.

At Level 25, the Aslaran gain an innate SCENT ability, as seen in the Wolf Totem. At Level 30, the Aslaran gains the Stink Ability, also as the totem skill. Should an Aslaran use it's Stink ability, whether totem or innate, another Aslaran's Scent can sense the person who has used the Stink, as well as anyone in the vicinity who may have walked through it.

At Level 75, an Aslaran gains the Eye of Aslarn ability, giving ((Any of these))Aethersight/Deathsight/Nightsight/Thirdeye. This may either be innate, or an on/off skill, which may require a mana/willpower/ego drain.

An Aslaran wielding two weapons has a slightly greater chance to hit.
An Aslaran may BATHE SELF or OTHERS to remove stink/ectoplasm or whathave you, with a slight chance of vomiting/dizzy. This may or may not require balance. Perhaps after this, potions sipped have a small chance of not working, for a small period of time, due to ingested materials.

Loboshigaru

At Level 25, Lobo gains the Scent Ability ( See Aslaran part)

At Level 50, Lobo may join a pack, something similar to the Hive Mind of the Kephera, but perhaps with a slight attack power boost. Should a Lobo be in a pack, perhaps a skill like PACKBARK, which when used, lets the whole pack know their location, as well as anyone in the area, perhaps scented

At Level 75, a Lobo may become a Pack Leader, giving +1 Str, +2 Chr, +1 Size. A Pack Leader gains 50 Max Health per Member in his/her pack in the area. Any pack members in the same area as their Pack Leader gains a small boost to Critical hit chance, as well as improved bleeding when using melee attacks.

More on the way, merely bored, and looking for suggestions. Yes, Yes, I know. some of these aren't even remotely balanced. Thus, suggestions are always welcome.

I like the Lobo stuff

I don't think the Icewyrm Dracnari thing makes sense. They've never had anything to do with cold, I know you have the whole some dragons breathe ice and whatnot, but that's never been in Lusternia, and I think it would be strange, sort of like Merians being able to become Fire Lord Merians and swimming in lava.

Inky, don't use the Shiri emoticon.

And much love to the Lobo pack. But make it so that only Males can be pack leaders? Makes sense, and it's more like the hive of Kepheras, where only females can become queen.

While we're at it can faelings choose an environment to bond with :ninjafade:

When Gaudiguch does come out I do believe Dracanri will get race improvements like Merian do, for example the mages will improve with more intelligence and the warriors get strength pluses. The only things I see wrong with Dracanri are the level 2,to healing slowly from elixirs. In fact if that was removed we would have a good chance at combat.

If that was removed, dracnari would be ridiculous. Anywho, fix Viscanti before you fiddle with dracnari.

Well, unlike in the insect kingdom, it has been observed that female wolves lead packs in the absence of a male. So it would make more sense for a female to lead a pack than for a male kephera to lead a hive.

PACKBARK

And howling would make more sense than barking. Howling can carry for miles, and if the Lobo in question happens to be more wolf-ish, then barking makes little RP sense (dogs bark frequently and loudly, wolves utter a softer, breathy 'whuf' mainly to get the attention of their pack).

hehe most of these ideas are a little ludicrous :> Aslaran needs nerfage. Faelings need nerfage. I like the pack leader idea without the stat increases. Dwarves and dracnari could use some love, I agree. But not in any of the ways you suggest!

no more nerfing. I think we said the nerf stick wasn't a toy.
Callia2008-03-02 20:02:09
Illithoid need a little work... but they are the most usable of the RP races...
Dysolis2008-03-02 20:11:28
we could agree to disagree that Viscanti and Dracnari need changes, as well as some other ones.
Amarok2008-03-02 20:16:55
Oh YES please on the Loboshigaru suggestions. content.gif That would be so awesome..now if can only do something about the magic weakness, now that hurts... ouch.gif

I acutally really like illithoid. The stats are awesome. Their ego can get to ridiculous levels. Mine was over 7k at level 82
Rika2008-03-02 20:48:54
Mugwumps need nerfs.
Unknown2008-03-02 20:49:33
agreed
Rika2008-03-02 20:52:12

Ditch the fullplate and go for greatrobes/splendors! laugh.gif It's how I handled l2 magic weakness (not that I ever really fought or could even wear anything other than robes!)

Slightly off-topic:

Are shadowlord faelings the only spec. race that isn't gender sensitive? i.e.: I have seen Merian Lady, I think Elfen Lady (once), but all the female Ebonguard faelings are shadowlords. Unless they're secretly men? O.o
