I've seen all the reasons and responses mentioned in this thread many times, and will sadly have to echo Catarin's point. I've always wanted to see the 'reformed Viscanti' but it's never been done; you'll get lots of pressure to reincarnate and this is where most people stop, because they do end up reincarnating (or quitting the city). It'll require a radical shift in thinking and maybe another 1 or 2 world catastrophes before the general populace would accept such an individual living amongst them, I think!
The closest 'easy' alternative I see would be an orchlach... I think Fain favours the viscanti and orclach races?

Yes an orclach would be a much better choice. I've seen that done pretty well.

Illithoids are completely banned in Serenwilde.
Kephera are given a harder time, but are also given chances (tasks) to prove their loyalty to Glomdoring, and which point they get pretty much the same rights as other Gloms.
Not as similar as Viscanti in Celest compared to the 'lesser' races in Mag.

We ban illithoids completely, actually.
You don't get the occasional novice who wanders in and is Illithoid? It would be sort of cruel to not encourage the novice to reincarnate, especially since they're not aware of the ban (troublemongering alts not withstanding)

They are encouraged to reincarnate. If they disagree, we ostracize. They are told all this, of course.

I know, I was just poking at Shiri ( ) to quantify the statement. I'm nitpicky that way.

Viscanti are physically tainted. They were once other races who were 'mutated' into what they are now.
"The viscanti are unlike most of the other races because they did not
originate from the fragmentation of an Elder God. Rather, the viscanti
came into being as victims of the Taint at the time of the Fall of the
Celestine Empire. The viscanti were originally members of the other
native Lusternian races who were directly caught in the Taint and whose
forms became twisted, just as the land became twisted. Through years of
interbreeding, they have become recognized as a race unto themselves."
To me, it makes no sense for a viscanti to want to be a part of Celest. They are tainted as long as they are a viscanti. On another note I don't think Celest will deal with a Viscanti in Celest anyways, you are new and they know you have another reincarnation chance. As Catarin put it, they will tell you to reincarnate or toss you out of the door if you refuse.

Yeah, I actually agree with Thoros on this. What defines the viscanti is the fact that they are tainted. If they were not tainted, they would be called .

Just to emphasize Rika's statement:
You sure can be a Kephera in Glomdoring! You just have to "prove yourself" to the Commune before you get the rights of a normal citizen, and after that you'll probably be treated just like anybody else (unless you're one of those citizens who just likes annoying everyone, in which case you're still treated like any other citizen who acts that way).
I think it's kind of a shame to straight-out ban races, or even not give them a chance to demonstrate that they're 'loyal' despite their current race. However, it's completely understandable that some orgs did it (and there was a pretty massive call to straight-out ban Kepherans in Glomdoring, too).

I was a viscanti in Celest on an alt once. The person who inducted me didn't even realize I was a viscanti, which I thought was odd. I became an aquamancer and started hiding it because I was ashamed and I had reincarnated into one for RP reasons. I was that way for a while until a friend I had made in mag felt sympathetic and gave me some credits to get a dagger. It was fairly interesting for a while but it got boring really quickly with everyone telling me to reincarnate.

They would be called...
The only race that's worse than Dracnari and Dwarf combined!

You know we do not speak of the Dwacnari. Not even on the forums.
Anyway OP, you can always "cheat" and be a human cross breed. You can have vestigial horns that you hide with illusion or a hat/hood, oddly ambiguous skin pigmentation, perhaps funny eyes, etc. That way you can have a bit of the RP you want, without being a technical viscanti. The way races work here, you'd be considered human despite your appearance, so hostile RP against you would be just that- stemming from personal RP.
There's also always hiding it with illusion, if you have that skillset available. Though that comes with its own set of perils, and probably defeats the purpose for everyone that can't detect it.

It is my understanding that it is impossible to join the Paladins while knowing illusions and such. Otherwise I would be so irritated. It's mechnical.

Yes, no joining a guild while you have skills that don't belong to that guild. Otherwise, Jigan would probably ditch Athletics/Sacraments for Illusions in a heartbeat.

Correct. Jigan's planning on asking Elostian if he can get training but still be a Paladin.
Doubt it will work though.

I find it funny that Glomdoring is the most racially accepting place in theory and practice, who would've thought it. The Shadowdancers almost had a Kephera Champion and Illithoid Administrator, but alas one vote short of drama.

There would be no drama. Drama would be counterproductive to the Shadowdancers and thus the Glomdoring.
Nothing Matters but Glomdoring!
Sorry. It comes out randomly now.
