If I had credits to "drop" I would, but everything I have goes to skills right now.

There is a saying…”It takes money to make money.”

If you add up all the time it would take for you to duplicate a good map (assuming that’s your goal) and spent that time questing and/or leveling (and then hunting) you’d come out far, far more ahead. This is of course dependant on how much time you’ll play and how much mapping you’ll do.

A good map can vary easily make you at least 10% more productive, die 10% less often, etc. If a good map were an artifact in Lusternia it would sell for 500cr+.

I think there are two very good reasons for making one’s own maps. The first, is that one really enjoys mapmaking and the second, is that one learns an area generally far better making a map than simply following a map.

Yeah, I still update my map in spite of the fact that I don't play anymore. I'm not sure why to be honest, habit I guess D: (and I can trade the credits people send me for Aetolia credits)

Hrrm, I'm having some issues getting this set up. I'm using the 0 wrapwidth one (that's what I use in lusty too).

For one thing, the thing comes set to use port 3000 as default, not sure why that is. I've changed it in the config to use port 23, though.

But anyway, I'm able to connect to Lusternia through mudbot, and it recognizes my Lmap (it's an older one, but still valid). The problem comes whenever I try to do "lmap" it says no current room set. I try to manually set the room, which works for a second, but then whenever I move, the map doesn't move with me, it still thinks I'm in the last room. And none of the trigger things are working, it isn't putting out to the side of the room names the area I'm in and stuff. And when I try to load the map again, I get a segmentation error.

I'm trying to recompile it myself, but I cannot figure out how to use minGW. It seems like I did some stuff with it back in some CS class I had, but I can't find any good documentation that explains how to use it to build something from a makefile.

Any help would be appreciated.

I really enjoy mapmaking smile.gif

And the LMTS somehow makes configuring CMuDs mapper foolproof...I no longer need tagging triggers or anything.

and I agree that mapping an area makes it so much easier to navigate than if I just followed a different map.

I heard that this came with a fix that kept you autowalking even after bumping into cows on the road, so I decided to try it out. From what I understand, you're supposed to just download the 80-wrapwidth version, move whatever mapper you're using into the folder, run Mudbot and go, right?

For some reason, this mudbot doesn't work for me. The other one I have (and it isn't running at the time) works perfectly fine. I'm still set to localhost, port 123, and the config files are all set to lusternia.com port 23. The one in LMTS works up until I try and actually connect to Lusternia. It fails to connect for some reason, and Zmud keeps trying to make it reconnect every few seconds. Any help would be appreciated, since I have no idea what I'm doing. content.gif

There are two TCP ports. The first is lusternia.com port 23 and that is what the mudbot connects to. The second is the port you connect your client to the mudbot with. By default it is TCP port 3000 on localhost but it can be any number as long as it is not already used. The important thing is that your mudbot and client both have to agree.
Your problem could be many things but it sounds like you are not connecting to the right lusternia.com port. Your client connects to mudbot, mudbot tries to connect somewhere, it fails so it kicks your client off the mudbot.

So.. I've been wanting to compile this for my ubuntu machine, unfortunately it doesn't, no matter what I try.

If I try make, all I get is this:

CODE
-e \\e Error 1

Does anyone have any clue what I can do about that? *hopes*
Unknown2008-09-06 19:17:02
CODE
sudo apt-get install zlib1g-dev

Thanks lots, it works now whoo!

I was guessing that I was missing a library but I couldn't find any by the name of "z" -grumble- dry.gif

Any body have idea why this is happening? Whenever someone dies, the trigger works and tells me what room number they were in, but the actual room name still isn't working, the map doesn't recognize that I'm standing in a mapped room, and whenever I try to "lmap path " I get an error that says "current room not set, can't map path" If I do "room switch " the lmap looks right, but whenever I move, it doesn't move with me.

What color are your room titles? Does that color match what's in your LMTS config?

Wow, I would never have thought of that. It worked though, thanks a lot. smile.gif

I've just loaded LMTS 2.0 with Shamarah's IMap file, but I can't get the module to load when starting mudbot (and even when I used it as-is from extraction, which did load a mapper module, with your i_mapper stuff, neither 'map' nor 'lmap' did anything in game.) Halp sad.gif
Unknown2008-09-16 20:52:46
Did you rename your map file to LMap?

Are you using all lowercase for the "lmap" alias commands? (Not my code that does the case sensitive thing. Whyte did it that way, and I didn't change it...)

Hai, hasn't been a post in here for a while but I have a problem...

LMTS2 won't let me use background colours with my colours. I don't really know what else to explain, the mapper on it works fine but now every clan that had a background colour doesn't show up (i.e. black text on a black background). Anyone else experience this?
Enero2008-12-22 06:01:14
Haven't experienced problems like that.
Background colours work fine for me, although I use them for targetting and other things like that, via triggers, not in-game colours.

Maybe there is a way how you can use those instead of in-game ones, or just use in-game text colours... Come to think of it, I actually have problem with that myself.

GNT which is deep green work just fine, but certain clans that are in golden text only come up as golden when -I- use the channel and plain when someone else uses it. Hrm...

From what I've seen, it only seems to happen when you use a dark foreground on a dark background, or some other combinations. I've got quite a few background colours working fine.
Unknown2008-12-22 13:09:57
If you can tell me which color combinations cause you problems, I can debug LMTS to figure out why it's not letting them through properly.
