A problem with rules and definitions is people don't (pick one, some, or all): read them. Understand them. Care about them. Know they exist.
This can be supported by a couple of examples such as, "Ignorance is bliss." Or something that should be more recognized by the world, which is: typically, ignorance defines what we know today. Words in the english language having their definitions altered due to continually being used wrong is a good example of that.
Another problem is people will just define their RP with a history of their own, which can justify why they don't follow any RP guidelines for their race. OOC can bleed into this as well.. Actual lack of desire to RP is a problem. I've learned that many people are typically more interested in PvP. It feels to me that some people only RP "just enough".
I've limited experience on Lusternia, so I can't exactly say that these problems are part of Lusternia, rather, it is just my own experience with MUDs in general.. But because people are people, typically no matter where they are, I'm betting these problems exist here.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing on anything here.. I'd love to see more RP with races. However I don't agree with it unless the RP guidelines are defined as something a race typically is and given by the actual creators. People want to make their character and play it how they want. I know I do that, but I DO my best to follow all guidelines given by race, guild, city, et cetera. But thats me, I love defined RP.

I should add that I don't agree with it as a SET guideline.. As in.. "THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD PLAY!"
As a resource for people to be able to read and learn more racial RP concepts for their given race, I think that sort of collection is a very good idea, but don't shun players for not following it, as it's not exactly defined by the creators.

I don't believe in telling people exactly how to play their race either; however, it's good to have a set of guidelines for people to follow when deciding on what sort of character to play, and I don't think there's anything wrong with the players setting up guidelines rather than just the admin.

We got sidetracked I guess we can all agree that they are beautiful (mostly) to themselves and other Viscanti (though I personally, speaking as a human tend to find the horns/demonic appearance strangely arousing in women)
*cough* What I think we were trying to get at though is the personality of the Viscanti? I tend to read a lot in their environment... Magnagora itself is a pretty good reflection of the people who live there (the upper class being mainly of the Viscanti persuasion) It's dark, brooding, sometimes indulgent, and generally quite cruel. Here's a good jumping point... now what makes your Viscanti more than just this?
Also, the Viscanti npcs that inhabit Magnagora are exceptionally well written. Great references there too.
