It's simply unfair that there is no reason for Serenwilde/Celest to do a conflict-quest. There either needs to be a different quest altogether that allows Serenwilde/Celest/Glomdoring to take control of the scholars/bards, or the current one needs to be altered to give a suitable IC reason for organizations other than Magnagora to do the quest.
This is going to end up bringing up yet another "Is Wyrd taint or not" debate if you're not careful...

Shouldn't really start a debate, in this context-- since IC Glom says it's not Tainted, and the argument is about IC reasons to do/not do the quest.
ongaku2008-03-14 02:44:01
Ah, that's a good point. (It's totally tainted though! )
Everiine2008-03-14 03:39:28
Though from what I heard this is another well built and fun quest, I too am dismayed that the last two major areas and quests released were aimed at the same group of people-- one to use a Soulless God to gain extra power, another to broadcast taint propaganda. I'd really like to see the next one of these places have something to do with New Celest or Serenwilde (or even leaned a bit towards Glomdoring) instead of Magnagora.
Asarnil2008-03-14 04:47:44
You know, if you want to do the quests so much, you could come to Magnagora. We've got cookies!

You make a compelling offer.
How are the health benefits?
Also, on a scale of 1-Shuyin, how overpowered is the class selection there?
Asarnil2008-03-14 08:46:37
Health benefits? Well we do have this little thing called Lichdom, I hear some people find it useful.
And as to how overpowered our classes are, it depends on which one you choose I guess. I gotta admit, I do like Omen and Contagion for 2p each. Omen is like this skill called Puissance and an affliction called sensitivity, but unlike the two I mentioned - it doesn't actually suck.

I'm still waiting for the Tainted Pledge Drive
Unknown2008-03-15 03:38:35
That is a fun quest. I think I'm going to only do it once though, the effects do seem a bit blah to me. The other orgs should have a solution to them outside of destroy the device.
What they should do is something similar to when Celest got Acknor to not take slaves, actively RP trying to influence Globglob or curing the scholars and bards.
And I loved getting this message after greeting a bard "A wandering bard exclaims, "All hail the Emperor's heroic servant!"
A wandering bcurtseys respectfully before you."

This quest is tottally universal. Celest could justify doing it if they had even a slight paradigm shift. It's not helping Mag and it could be considered a "greater good" thing. Compared to Marani (A quest basically -no one- can do, this is nothing)

As in...
'Hi! We're going to spread the word of the Light through the control of the minds of the Basin by a Tainted psychopath.'?
Nerra2008-03-17 04:22:54
More like "Let's make the taint fight the taint."
Rika2008-03-17 04:26:43
And at the same time spreading the word of the Taint everywhere else? Sure, why not?

One of the unique things about Lusternia is that it is not a simple black and white world of Good versus Evil. Instead, it is a world painted in shades of grey, where there are not many clear cut answers (ie, is Glomdoring tainted or is the wyrd something else?) or easy decisions.
Are the tainted people evil, or are they just the victims of the crimes perpetrated by the Old Celestine Empire? Is New Celest good and just, or are their means more cruel and evil than the enemies they want to stomp out? Serenwilde is certainly not a forest of tree-hugging hippies, as anyone who knows its extant history can tell you. These questions are part of what makes Lusternia so compelling in my eyes, because there are no easy answers.
The Tainted Broadcasting Centre continues this trend. Everyone has access to the quest and can benefit from it (to the detriment of everyone else), but there are some difficult choices to make when considering that for organizations like Serenwilde and New Celest (and maybe Glomdoring as well, depending on the views of your character). The fact that there is debate over whether it should be pursued or not makes for intriguing and engaging roleplay, and creates the kind of atmosphere that really sets Lusternia apart from other games where your choices are binary and essentially meaningless.
So in short, there will not always be a perfect quest solution for your org in every area. Lusternia thrives on provocative content that inspires questions and new debates rather than answers them.

The answer to the good and evil is simple. Everyone (Cept Glomdoring) is good. Narsrim and Munsia are evil.
The reason Glomdoring doesn't get in a spot is because I still believe it needs deleted.

Then create some more strive quests for Magnagora where it is a nobrainer for Celest and/or the communes? I mean now Mag has the soulforge one and the centre one. I think you can understand people in celest, serenwilde and Glomdoring want a conflict quest were magnagorians will face harsh talks with their leadership (or indeed punishment from leaders or even gods) and they can just do it without having to deal with constant insults.
Because believe me I am now severly discouraged to ever do that quest again simply by reviewing the responses both Zia and myself prompted by doing it.

I agree with her above statement. Besides, all players should have a chance at experiencing the role-play that comes with making decisions to complete quests that go against the general accept ideals of the organization they are a part of. Right now, Magnagora is definitely missing out on that rich role-play potential.

Magnagora's a commercial empire. In my eyes, as the current mindset is, unless it -hurts- Mag, I can't see them getting upset over anything. Course that's me.

See, I don't believe that. Unless Mag wants to be viewed as a mindless horde of savages, they do and have exercised restraint in various situations. There are certain beings they don't hunt, guidelines and principles they adhere to and so on. I'm not so sure if there were a quest that might promote Celest, while helping them at the same time, their leadership would be 100% on board. I don't know though. It'd be nice if there WERE such a quest. So far, the quests lean towards Mag interest while everyone else gets to huff and puff about doing it. Yeah, great opportunity for rp. Pft!
