The idea that xavius had, which I thought was cool, is that each race has basically a bunch of branches it can go down.
At each stage say, levels 1, 25, 50, 75 you can pick one of the various bonuses which enhance your race.
Sort of like skillchoice select, but instead it would be RACECHOICE SELECT.
These bonuses woud be like +1 balance - 1 con etc.
Other possiblity is that you have stat packs which are a collection of +- to stats based on your race.
like if you chooze wizard pack you get +3 int - 1 con - 2 str. to whatever your base race stats are.

So long as such changes are kept small (definitely no more than 3, if even that high), that's fine. But any larger and you start getting ridiculous-- a Faeling choose a +3 Str from a warrior package, while a human or Trill chooses the wizard's -2 Str, and all of a sudden you have a 6 ft. tall being unable to garner more strength than a 2 ft. tall Faeling. Even then, it's starting to not add up.

Keep in mind that the warrior pack would probably also add a certain amount of size-- so it'd be closer to a 3-foot Faeling. I'm not sure it's all that outlandish for someone who's half the size of the other, but in MUCH better shape, to have about the same end strength.
I'd guess that there are people relatively close to 4 feet who are able to do a lot more than some 6-foot-tall folk I know who spend a significant portion of their time doing non-physical activities.

Major factor in the racial rebalancing: What about regeneration? Many races have 1-3 levels of regeneration under varying circumstances, ostensibly to act as an incentive to play that race. But when Demigod comes around, the players automatically get level 3 regeneration. So: will the Demigod versions of these races be rebalanced to correct this inequity?
Also, it'd be nice to ask if STR will still level off in affect at STR 18. If it does, then most demigods will forgo the ordinary warrior races in favour of aslaran/faeling in perpetuity.

What if we just reduced every str by 3? so humans have like 9 str and faelings 6?
Lots of options!

Our next project is going to be Lusternia Idol. You will be able to use the theater system to perform a song. Then viewers will use a new aether-texting channel to send in their votes for best singer. The player with the least votes will get kicked off the stage. After about half way through, the contestants will have to sing a song about Trader Bob's. He's the sponsor and demands good product placement. It continues until you have a single player left. The winner gets the power to flood every guild and city channels with his serenades until the next idol is picked. It will also be a chance to interact with me more since I'll be at each of the performances to mock the singing mortals and explain how I could have done it so much better than them, because I'm Roark and I'm better than you.

I approve. Will the winner also get the ability to use aethers even while dead, and be granted permenant conglute where-ever so everyone can enjoy their singing constantly, and so those pesky nay-sayers can't silence their voice by killing them?
I won't watch for the singing, I'll watch for Roark's ego-crippling remarks.

And then...we can release Ackleberry. Yay!
This would cause all of the emo-centric Glom people to go to Ackleberry. Then Ackleberry will become a stagnant emo-loving forest like Glom.
As such, from this I've been able to draw the conclusion that Munsia is full of epic Fail.
In the largest degree.
In other news...
Shut UP Munsia, just Shut-up.
You know the Admin will never delete Glomdoing unless it has a population of 0 active and 0 inactive players. Then the Admin might consider it.
And besides, your not the resident forum troll. So you're not allowed to Troll.

Gasp. I'm going to get my "She bangs, She bangs" ready.
Back on topic, would these "stat packs" people are speaking of be refundable? So that people can still switch classes without crippling themselves?

MMO's that are balanced around the average endgame player are doomed to be overtaken by their own design flaws, and suffer rapidly declining populations as the game progresses. Simply put, balancing around the 5% of the active population that has "nowhere to go" causes imbalances for lower level players. When the playing field is eventually leveled -after several months of complaints from these lower level characters- the incentives to hit the top tier are dampened. Stagnant middle and high level, highly active players must be drawn back in with new additions. These are often a bit imbalanced, causing the cycle to commence once more. The worst part is, 3/4 of the games out there deliver only the most half-assed of solutions for the problem at hand, eventually leaving the middle level players feeling all the more disenfranchised because they repeatedly receive the blunt end of the nerf-stick.
Demigods should just be their own race with hefty racial resistances, slightly customizable stats, and just enough extra punch above a titan to make them worth it, but not require re-balancing every time a new game mechanic is implemented.
And yah, STR based races need work. Tanks don't really exist around here, physical damage regularly sees the most retroactive nerfs, it's hard as hell bashing without balance or XP bonuses (which big races ALL lack), and the afflictions system makes it fairly difficult to make an effective argument for anyone to PvP as a STR heavy race. Especially when everyone is only worried about the 2 or 3 demigods in realms who make damage knights look good (who, I may add, tend not to be the slow, strong races - since their stats are so stacked they are better off with racial speed bonuses... ahem).
Drastically increase DMP weightings and effects towards higher levels, undo stat-weighting, slow down warriors in general, lower the timing disparity between racial speed increases and decreases, and provide more customisability to end-game characters while providing more risk and hunting grounds for them. That's a start.

I firmly disagree with this. Demigods are half shard, half divine. It makes no roleplay sense for them to be their own race. This is not Achaea, with joining the dragon-race at level 99.Unknown2008-04-20 06:02:22
A demigod with a balance/equilibrium bonus is better than a demigod without a balance/equilibrium bonus.

How about for each level of balance/equi bonus a race has, the stat boosting they get from demigod/titan goes down by one? And if they have a balance to both balance/equi, it will only count the highest bonus between the two.
So a Furrikin would only get +1 from Titan and +1 from Demi, an Aslaran would only get +1 from Demi and nothing from Titan, and Faelings and Mugwumps would get no stat boosting at all for Titan/Demi.
Probably wouldn't be that significant unless high end stats are tweaked to be more noticeable again, though.
