Can't speak for Glomdoring, but...

...looks like they are, indeed, very crowded.

That's a good idea, but again, with being able to read the news everywhere?

Maybe through the magic of the aethers, copies of every note posted to a news board are automatically replicated and sent to every adventurer who'd have access to that board. But because it's just a magic replica, you can only read one at a time instead of purusing the entire board like you can if you actually go to the news room. And, of course, the magic only works one way - which is why you can't write a news post anywhere, even though you can read them.

That makes more sense than what anyone else has said.

I'm 90% certain that "the scribe" first appeared in IRE by an Admin "god" who made a really bad IG factual mistake in a post, and then blamed thier scribe for not listening to them properly.

And people just took it from there.

Oh how I miss the divine back and forth in Achaean newsboards sometimes.

I wish the Gods here would rant at each other more in the public news boards! frenzy.gif In fact, I wish lots more folks used them. Sometimes days and days go by without new public news posts. sad.gif laugh.gif

Hm. When I write in a log, this appears:

"The Scribe dutifully records your words."

Has it always been like that?

My theory is this: Aside from the players and NPC's, there are also the regular people, the ones that actually live in the Gloaming/Non-Merian District/treehouses?/wherever. And of these regular people, there are probably a few whose job it is to maintain the newsrooms and assist people in writing and posting. IE They are the ones who actually put the news posts up after they are written by the player.

I don't know. Sometimes the public bickering back-and-forth is entertaining, especially when it's someone intelligent doing it. But some of the other IREs have all these inane public posts about private squabbles I don't want to hear about and how this person or that person rejects their "previous path" or asks for forgiveness.

Though I agree it would be nice to see some of the gods taking potshots at each other on Public more often.

I always felt that Public IC divine posts were tacky. I mean come on, if you were a God would you bother with something like a news post? I would just carve my message into a mountain or something.

If your purpose was only to give the message to people on one side of the mountain, that might make sense. But if you wanted people on all sides of the mountain to know what you had to say, an ad in the universally read newspaper might be more appropriate.
