Conflict Quests

Back to Common Grounds.

So, having read the most recent announce, I'm somewhat confused. There was, a while back, a push to remove conflict quests-- and the Administration made its stance clear on the matter.

Now, however, with the recent announce, things have changed. Yes, it appears that these quests are difficult, but it is a very definite step backwards from a previous decision... so are we going to see other organizational conflict quests being revived as well?

(And before you compare it to the DemonLords/Supernals bit, the quests to kill/raise Crow/Hart are considerably more nasty than gathering essence, which we have to do for Avatars anyways)

It looks more like the Star/Necromentate quests to me, actually. I don't think we need to worry that much.

I believe I already pointed out the disparity between essence gathering, and annoying revival quests that are *really* easy to stop, can only happen 1 hour out of every 32, etc.

Right, but it's about as hard to do as the Necromentate/Star, so I'm not sure it'll get done to begin with. Plus, you have to do more than just essence for the Star/Necromentate quests (although true, you can do them any time of month.)

They certainly don't seem to have the same kinds of bottlenecks, either (guards at the crib in Stewarts, getting there first and taking it, hiding it in Seren with guards, etc).

Personally I am far more annoyed they took a unique concept and made it just a city conflict knockoff that has the added step of we have to do a quest as well that is easily stopped on both sides.

Yay for forced raiding every 16 hours if we choose to participate in this conflict!

ummm... does that mean we can say "we were not off hour raiding... we were meeting our allotted quota of conflict quest raids"?

For those of us who don't know, what DO we have to do?

The star/necro quests don't involve essence at all, as far as I remember. drunk.gif

What exactly does it require to raise the things, then?
Acrune2008-03-30 16:07:36
We have to put one of Roberto's pearls in each beacon, have no idea what the necro quest is. There could be more to it, but I don't think there is.
Malicia2008-03-30 16:30:28
We should make it possible to destroy the Star/Necromantate again!

Yes but only once a month on the first and last quarter of the moon phase, and you have to do a quest after killing all the demon lords/supernals, in order to actually accomplish it.

That sounds a lot easier then it is now tongue.gif

Fun times are back.

Anyone remember the times when White Hart was killed by Crow? I'm trying to remember what made it bad that he was dead - I know the Moonhart Tree stopped dropping nuts, and I have a vague suspicion that it also stopped gaining power from things, but I can't remember if we lost and skills in Druidry or Stag. I was Hartstone back then, but I wasn't very high in either skill. And losing the ability to get new nuts for a bit is not so bad, the druids have the whole forest covered with elders/totems now.
Xenthos2008-03-30 17:26:16
These quests are anything but 'fun times'. :/
Daganev2008-03-30 17:33:25
Do we know for certain that the quest is exactly the same as it used to be?

Care to actually post the announce for those who can't see it?

Brennan is moaning for the crown again, so the quest is looking exactly the same except that it also requires some Avatar deaths.

The announce just says "We've re-enabled the quests, but made it a little harder."

White Hart wasn't killed by Crow. White Hart was killed by Viravain and by himself.

Subj: White Hart and Crow

As some of you may have noticed, the White Hart and Crow quests are now
active again. They have been revised to make it more difficult to kill
either Hart or Crow, due to the fact that Glomdoring is now a player
commune.

Enjoy!?

Hmm. This is a good question. What are the similarities with the City conflict quest and how do you think it should be different?

Edit: Or how was it unique in the first place?
