Wiccans have an entity that's sole purpose is to steal gold from players that are to stupid to babysit themselves.
If you want to be protected against theft, ask someone how to protect yourself against theft.
I spent RL money to buy credits so that I could trans lessons so that I could gain levels more easily. My deaths constitute theft of my intended earnings. Ban Death! Murder is immoral and by societies standards wrong on many levels. Ban murder in the game!
I want babysitter functions!

Leprechaun steals only 50 gold, but no one really bothers to summon them. I haven't summoned them in a RL year, actually.
Theft is not an OOC issue, and I'm grateful it is not. Theft is rampant across IRE and very rarely do we have someone that does go about and steal in Lusty. There are plenty of ways to counter theft, but the administration does not need to spend time in ISSUES dealing with problems that players themselves can easily counter. It's simply the uninformed or the just plain old lazy that don't make anti-theft stuff.
Anyway. My two cents.

I only skimmed this. All I have to say is "no." Lusternia is an RP based game. The less arbitrary rules to make people "feel better" the better the game will be. While ultimately we whine about things in the game, if it ws made to easy a lot of the hardcore players would likely leave and the game would end up a hollow sell-out shell. For a game like WoW that's fine. It has a huge corperation and state-of-the-art graphics. For Lusternia, that'd kill it.
IMHO.

Leprechaun steals 50 gold every time it tics and the person it bumps into has gold out. It also picks things up off the ground and most wiccans I have seen, including myself, summon one.

To Bold: I don't see the difference between what you said and what I said. Unless you're just one big ball of argument today and just trying to be annoying and argue for the sake of arguing.
To Italic: Whatever floats your boat. They still suck.

In Lusternia, you can murder people in the most gruesome ways. Crucify them on crosses, stab their hearts out and offer them to demonic gods, behead them with a single blow, and even send their brains flying everywhere. But no, once someone takes your gold, it's BAD!
Seriously, Lusternia is one of the -easiest- realms in any game I have ever played, IRE or not, to make money in. If anything, theft should be -promoted-.

Killing people is no worse than punching them in the face if they do not stay dead.
Ashai2008-04-23 00:57:05
When I was still in the Shadowdancers, I told people not to summon leprechauns, because they are just really annoying with picking up things, and don't actually serve a purpose. It's really just a stupid skill... it should be changed, but probably isn't anywhere close to a priority.

Theft in a game where organization unity leads and rogues are looked down on...interesting.
--New Celest would permit theft, since it's good and righteous for the Light to steal stuffs from others. (Note: The Righteous Principality of New Celest)
--Serenwilde would permit theft, since clearly Mother Moon and White Hart want their...never mind (Serenwilde's really hard to get points on )
--Magnagora would permit theft, as it is good for the nobility attitude of Viscanti and pretty much everyone in Magnagora.
--Glomdoring would permit theft, once more because of the Glomdoring Pride (GBTG). It's only right that people who think themselves better than everyone else would succumb to such lowly things as theft.
/sarcasm on all four points.
I'm going to say no to theft, sorry.

Now it becomes clear why Serenwilde was the only organization without anti-theft rules.
Up until a Moondancer started stealing from Seren shops with moonbeam.

How does this argument make sense?
Wealth redistribution?
So if there's too much money in game, we should promote concentrating it even more into certain members of the population, who will still make sure it gets spent?
Still -easy- gold, as you put it.

...what?
Magnagora and Celest sure didn't have anti-theft rules back then (do they today?) So far as I know the ones ones who have had them consistently are the Shadowdancers. Not even the rest of Glomdoring always has.
Btw, that wasn't the time we implemented anti-theft rules. We implemented them after Narsrim threatened to rob every Magnagoran blind until Kaervas gave his gem back, or something like that.

I believe Celest had anti-theft rules at the time, though that could be incorrect. I know there were some in Magnagora, people weren't allowed to steal from those who weren't on the "blacklist" (which is still some kind of anti-theft rule even if not a complete ban).
Btw-- it's more amusing to point out the theft-happy Moondancer.
(Not that the post was entirely serious to begin with!)

I personally can't stand theives and do view it as an OOC issue as well as IC. A large part of my departure from Lusternia is from frustration with thieves harassing you non stop and hiding behind flimsy pk rules. Thievery is detremental to the gaming environment of Lusternia. It may be something done IC, but if it's driving away players OOC...then it becomes an OOC problem. Naturally, if it becomes predominant in Lusternia, it will drive people away.
Find the thieves IRL. Take them out back and beat them until they promise never to do it again. Then kick them in the head for good measure.

Many guilds ban thievery, even if nations might not. For as long as I've been playing theft has been against guild policy, and probably commune policy. We've had it for a long time.

Very long; Malicia and I put that one in, if I remember right, almost immediately after I became High Chief.
