Reincarnation and RP

So one of the Hartstone druids has decided she has to write out my life story for a guild task, which presents me with a bit of a problem, cause now I have to explain my race change.

I was a faeling in beta but it was for a veryshort time, and I doubt anyone remembers it anyway, so I can safely pretend it didn't happen (yay Crow) . Then I reincarnated into a mugwump. So I spent a large portion of my life as a mugwump druid, primarily influencing, until they did some race changes in which mugwumps were not such good influences any more (they really were too good at it) and gave us all a free reincarnation. So I decided to switch from influencing to bashing and made the dubious decision of becoming a badger-like loboshigaru druid. badger.gif By I now understood what RP was, and tried to do it. I treated the Hartstone as my 'pack', became very loyal and stubborn (everything the Blacktalon accuses the Hartstone of being tongue.gif), but in tougher times for my character I would go a bit lone wolf and sequester myself in the Tosha monestary and meditate. And I often said that they only thing that would get me to leave the Hartstone was the opportunity to become a monk - which I eventually did when the Shofangi were released.

Over time I built up a family history for my character - based on a reference in Lolly Pringle's memoirs to a single loboshigaru standing amongst the furrikin and tae'dae of Ackleberry - I was descended from a small family of loboshigaru who had lived in Ackleberry before the taint wars. My description had previously hinted that my fur was dyed to make me look like a badger, but now I had an explanation for my apearance: that my family had intermarried with some of the Ackleberry furrikin, and I had a significant portion of furrikin blood. (My logic being that badgers are slightly canine looking, but - at least in OOC taxonomy - are closely related to weasels, otters and skunks, which are furrikinny)

But my problem is, how do I explain the many years I spent as a mugwump, if I'm descended from lobo'kins? I can't poof it away like my brief time as a faeling. And, also, how is reincarnation explained and thought of IC?

The Portal of Fate has been known to do funny things such as change a person's race when they come out. The reincarnation could be explained as you finding out the race you came out as was not the race you were supposed to be to begin with and that becoming a lobo was you becoming your "true" self.

Though be careful if you change your race again about changing your backstory and history every time you change races or the like-- you can only pull on this string so many times before it breaks.

Yeah, that's a good solution, though even with that I need a reason why I thought I was mugwump. huh.gif So...after careful investigation, I found out the history of my family and went - "Damn! I'm supposed to be loboshigaru! I better reincarnate!" badger.gif

I didn't have a backstory when I was mugwump, I only did it when I was lobo. You're quite right, my backstory is now quite firmly entrenched, so if I reincarnated (highly doubtful - I can't without getting credits) I couldn't change my backstory. Which birngs me back to - how is reincarnation viewed IC? Does it change only your body, or other aspects of you? Like, should I still enjoy eating insects as a loboshigaru, like I did as a mugwump? barf.gif Or, if I became a kephera, would I still have leftover badger-like tendencies, or would those be wiped away and I be truly insect?

When you reincarnate it says that your soul is forming a new body around you.

Its up to you to decide if you ate insects because of your body or some soul desire to consume insects.

Yeah, but couldn't you get so used to a way of doing things that you continue to do it even after the actual need to do it is gone?
