On the contrary, that adds to the RP.
And faelings really look just like tiny elfen with wings..
IMO they are too similar to eachother not to be.

What about cat-faelings, they're like little aslaran with wings!
Seriously though, what are you people arguing about?

Do Orcs have the shard of Orlachmar in them?

Shards
Prisch2008-04-07 22:43:44
I'm talking about the regular faelings.
The shadowcasters are just a bi-product of rowena (undead elfen) having children with Laeroc.
Rowena Nightshade is a shard of Elfenhoala and shes dark/evil. Theres nothing wrong with this.

Arix2008-04-07 22:45:32
Ohhhh. I liked that argument that someone made where whatever trait you have determined what shard you were. Like if you have gills, breathe water, and are a tank, you're probably a merian, no matter how human you look

Orcs are more or less the retarded cousins of Orclach. Same gene pool, but someone peed in one end

Oh, I thought he was asking if the orclach did.
Well, considering the viscanti, they all originated from a shard, the taint just dilluted or corrupted it.
So I would assume that yes, once they did.

Can a character play an orc?
Viscanti = tainted any race.
Orc = tainted orclach.
Can a viscanti become a demigod?
Daganev2008-04-07 22:53:54
A Viscanti is not a "tainted any race"
The viscanti are unlike most of the other races because they did not
originate from the fragmentation of an Elder God. Rather, the viscanti
came into being as victims of the Taint at the time of the Fall of the
Celestine Empire. The viscanti were originally members of the other
native Lusternian races who were directly caught in the Taint and whose
forms became twisted, just as the land became twisted. Through years of
interbreeding, they have become recognized as a race unto themselves.
Players can not play orcs. Orcs have the shards in them.
Players can play undead/tainted merians.
Orcs are not able to be flamed into divinity.
There is some other property that makes a race a race and that allows that race to become divine, other than shards.

They are, any or all races combined into one.
That is why viscanti appearance is so broad and has smaller limitations than others.
By blending with the taint, they chose to call themselves their own race, that doesn't actually mean biologically they are one. Just my 2 cents.
Daganev2008-04-07 23:08:04
By Shard alone you will not ascend.
And I think biologically, yes they are thier own race. Hence the sip bonus. Thats biological, not cultural.

Uhh, the only thing making viscanti, the viscanti; is the taint.
Hypothetically pretend that there was a race that was inbred. They all originated from somewhere, with a shard, splintered from somewhere. Throw in the taint, a few decades and they establish themselves as 'tainted nobles'. Are they shardless just because they became tainted? I don't think so.
It may have become damaged or effected by becoming viscanti, but I think each player has their own right to roleplay 'tainted this' or 'tainted that'. They just happen to be a viscanti with said background from long ago. Not that hard to understand..
BTW: They are just recognized as their own race. Because of the taint.

As far as I knew illithoids do have a 'shard'. They have a shard of illith's flesh. Called an inner worm.
Therefore soul is not equal to shard.

Yes, but the idea was that the Son of Yudhe's shard would mix with Illith's, potentially awakening it hence giving soul to the illithoid.

Wouldn't it be possible for minIllith would eat the soul of the Son of Yudhe's shard?

Thats the part I'm not sure about. OOC having all the illithoid becoming not-Soulless wouldn't happen though I think. Devouring and breeding might be different.
