There's always something you buggers have to whine about, shoosh and enjoy your new guild who cares what it's called.
Quite a few people mind (especially a new player just starting up the game and looking at the guild list), when the name brings to mind little cuddly kittens (for a certain audience, at least). It probably will cause some problems in that regard.
That said, the guild does seem to be "being enjoyed" as we speak, even if we are poking fun at the name. There's no reason we can't do both!

Hmm, I wonder how big a proportion of Lusternians doesn't (or didn't) know "neko."

Probably a big one. I just wanna know who actually decided that and who let it past development. It's obviously an 'inside joke' for those of us who know at least some Jap.

Examined:
Three long blades extend from an oblong hand-grasp, each designed to extend well
past the reach of the hands. Each of the knives on this nekai have been
sharpened on the underside and end with a downward slant into a point, spaced
evenly across the grasp to provide equal cutting power. Small grooves have been
formed inside the unbroken handle, allowing the hand purchase.

I could be mistaken, but that sounds kind of sai-like to me.
edit: Like a slashing sai, anyway. Close enough.

I dunno about "inside joke"...it's just a slightly twisted spelling of the weapon they use (neko-te.)

Even I knew that one, and I never know stuff like that.
Shiri2008-04-14 13:33:17
Heh, you were precisely the person I was thinking of when I asked that. So if you know, it's probably a pretty big proportion.
Gwylifar2008-04-14 13:34:17
That's me: the limit check for ignorance of pop culture! I'm glad I still have a function around here.
Jack2008-04-14 13:40:14
Gwylifar m'man, you're hep in the same way Cornelius from Achewood is hep. Sheer class. And not using the word "hep".
Prisch2008-04-14 13:53:58
I'd say I would convert to help you found it, and that WOULD be a lot of fun.
But if I did that my entire RP would be shattered so... ohhhh welllllll.

I've submitted three nekai designs at 25 comms each. I hope it was just a mistake and they're not going to increase prices for all kata weapons or something.. I liked having something that was relatively cheap and easy to forge.

*narrow* I'm watching you.
Don't worry, I think I'll be staying in my niche for a little while longer
Are the Nekotai accepting new members yet though?

No, and won't be for a while
Ashteru2008-04-14 15:42:43
The elections will be sped up. Though I am guessing we are waiting for a while, since there are two contestant for Champion.
Everiine2008-04-14 16:26:54
I think most new players won't know the connection between Nekotai and the kitty word. The only concern I see is that there are good number of immature "fan boys" out there already in the game and that type of player will almost certainly be drawn to the Nekotai and ruin the experience for others. This is why I always have the outguild/ostracize button handy.
Malicia2008-04-14 16:42:39
Nekotai is far better than Ninjakari, I'd say.
Daganev2008-04-14 16:45:08
I like the Nekotai name, sounds like Night
Urazial2008-04-14 17:21:37
Sounds like a candy. Neko wafers or whatever :/
Ashteru2008-04-14 17:46:59
Excellent. Got all 10 members gathered! Now just need to sort out the elections and live happily ever after.
Daganev2008-04-14 17:55:30
Congrats!
