Shamans for communes and Priests for cities. These guilds would have skills that directly help all other guilds.
They're job would be as healers and aides. They would all have greater healing powers and skills to help or reinforce guild skills. Examples could include that they could grant dreamwalking spirits more willpower or they can add extra power to fetishes as they would have skills directed not only to each archetype but to theit sub-skills. Priests and Shamans would have very low attack strength but greater power in defensive magic. These guilds will have skills that will block pathways, that will rebound attacks to their owners and that will let them call upon greater planar and magic skills that none other can. A Shaman or Priest will never be too strong on their own but their power in helping their guildmates by adding powerful chants to bard's music, adding spells to demesnes, whispering words of power into summoned creatures, at empowering weapons and forcing new power into the souls and bodies of fighters will make them a much appreciated addition to any commune or city.
Just an idea.

The children in Celest already have to avoid the Celestines and Cantors, let's not add Priests to the mix, hmm?

The Celestine Guild is the priesthood of Light, both protecting and being protected by the angelic plane of Celestia. As the spiritual leaders of New Celest, they uphold the teachings of the Holy Supernals of Celestia, seeking justice and harmony for all. Once pledged to a Holy Supernal, the blessed Celestine is almost always accompanied by an angelic companion who helps in the good works in the name of the Light.

Sheesh, someone should at least explain WHY it's a bad idea.
Saran2008-04-19 10:59:16
Aside from further dividing our playerbase into another four guilds when monks and races haven't been rebalanced?
And that these archetypes should already exist as Guardians and Druids respectively.

I've always thought of Druids and Celestines/Nihilists as Shamans and Priests anyway
Everiine2008-04-19 14:12:16
Didn't we just get through a rather long thread explaining in detail why we didn't want any new classes?
Shiri2008-04-19 14:20:12
Yeah, that part is wrong though. I meant why the specific idea here is a bad idea. Not just "die."
Eventru2008-04-19 14:43:20
Yea, whether you like the idea or not, "die" isn't an appropriate response. I'm sure you'd feel bad if someone else said it to you! :

Only if you take the forums too seriously!
Anyway, I was thinking it was a terrible idea, first and foremost, because classes need to be able to stand on their own two feet. There is no real tank/healer/what have you system currently in Lusternia, so randomly adding one of the above wouldn't work too well.
Also, we already have bards.

If that was your "first and foremost" reason, I really doubt that your first response would have been "Die!"
C'mon, I know there's another one on the tip of your tongue!

Bards were originally built to be primarily a support class. In the end, people felt their ability to support wasn't actually noticeable enough. So what happened? Did they get geared more towards support? No. They got tweaked to be more viable in combat on their own.
Lusternia has proved at least once before that traditional class systems don't really work here. Everyone wants to be able to fend for themselves, and to a certain extent, they really NEED to be able to.
Additionally, we have existing archetypes that fulfill the RP roles of your new proposed archetype, as previously mentioned in other posts. Consider how this might cause role displacement and confusion.
We seriously don't need another archetype to do this. What we might consider, however, is a separate set of skills for guardians/druids that allow them to come closer to the base idea here. We already have healing as a skillset - would making a new class with a different healing skillset make more sense than actually making our current one work for what it is intended to be? It could even be taken as far as having separate branches in the primary and secondary skills. I could totally see sacraments being divvied up to have one side that's more tank/support and another that's more strictly offense.
Enrich and expand our current guilds. Don't make new ones.

We've heard it all before? We have enough guilds? The guilds we have need fixing?
...The "Die." was the culmination of those and more, and acting like Reiha is entertaining.

Bards (Spiritsingers, at least), are making an effort to become what they originally were - support

Au contraire! I'd take the advice on board as an example of critical assessment, and if I felt enough people agreed, well, who am I to deny them?
Unknown2008-04-19 17:40:22
Yeah, I really think "die" is a tad too discouraging for someone's first post on the forums (second if you count Rolecall, which I mean, don't they need to post there to post anywhere?).
Of course, I similarly agree that this idea is a bit misplaced. Shamans and Priests are very similar to Druids and Guardians, and we needn't spread out guild populations any further at the moment. New skills for pre-existing archetypes in this vein would be a better idea.
