How about a manse artifact that lets you exhibit a weapon or armour? Like a miniature weapons rack, but only shows one item, and it does a sort of showoff.

I suggested a style of cabinets and weapon racks with a glass front, identical to the current ones except that even when closed, you could probe it to see what was inside, and probe the individual items inside it, even though you couldn't also get from and put into it.

Nothing. It's nigh impossible to get tradeskill ideas through envoys, and everything else is hit-or-miss, with a lot more miss. I wish they'd set aside even 1% of envoy slots for non-combat stuff! I can think of a half-dozen minor tweaks that would make artisan so much nicer...

Well, envoys is supposed to be for combat balance. That's the point of it - it's a feedback mechanism for adjusting balance.
If you've got ideas for skills or tweaks of a less-combative variety, posting them here helps. The other thing that works (contrary to popular belief) is the IDEA command - we read the ideas that are submitted that way on a fairly regular basis. Inevitably though, the coders have too much to do and not enough time, so lots of ideas that get an "ooh, that would be nice" from us then sit at the back of a very very long queue.
Alternately, you might be able to customise the item you want displayed to achieve the same effect. I.e. change the way it looks so that it appears to be mounted, and make it so that it can't be picked up and doesn't decay. The downside is you wouldn't be able to wear/use it!

Theres 1 slot per guild, 1% would need be rounded to a whole guild slot.. so I concur with the non combat envoy which could also help fix up some things with maybe utility abilities as well as standard trade things (maybe give a 'commons envoy' 2 slots so they can make multiple changes to trades or also work on things that arent directly combat).
IDEA must have an amazingly large queue by now >.>
