Not useless, but they could REALLY have better Charisma for people who kinda look like angels and came from a Goddess of Art.

Master viscanti are fine, really. With the old sip modifiers, they sipped health for more than shadowcaster faelings, and shadowcaster is a popular Shadowdancer race, which doesn't benefit from the balance bonus. Not their ideal race by any means, but popular, so...yeah, I think there's a big enough slice of the playerbase that manages that you don't need to be overly concerned. I'd also argue that dracnari aren't that bad of a race, and they have similar stats. They make decent druids. Better PK wise than the related lucidian, although that might be frequent encounters with Shuyin's weapons talking. If the concern was making them better for Geomancers, a point of int would go a long way, but more than that would be overkill. Their constitution combined with their sip penalty just isn't that bad.

Brood viscanti aren't. They really, really, really aren't. Int and cha are waaaay too low with that sip penalty. +2 int, +1 cha would go a long way for the viscanti warriors without eliminating the low charisma factor. Even then, I wouldn't take brood viscanti over krokani. They could probably use a strength or con bonus on top of it all.

As for the tertiary speed changes, I'd actually leave hexes alone, but boost the speed of runes and tarot. Or just tarot, but tarot for sure. Or a way for Nihilists to mask afflictions or temporarily boost balance recovery. Something in that vein.

Brood definitely need the lurve. Master I am mostly ok with as they stand.. though village influence boost seems rather negligible... what is it.. boost of 1 less attack? Takes same amount as a viscanti with 16 cha than as an elfen with 17 cha

The thing is, it doesn't matter how long you take influencing mobs, they speed isn't the problem and you can generally take the extra 1-2 attacks okay. When it comes to debating though, you WILL get debated out in a couple of good hits by anyone with a half-good charisma statistic with such a low charisma, and that combined with such a bad sipping penalty (with a -2 sipping penalty, your average sip is about as good as the minimum sip of someone with the exact same stats and level who doesn't have one). The INT situation isn't *too* bad with lich up, but having less than 10 in any stat, even without sipping penalties is absolute suicide against someone with a kill that can take advantage of that low stat.

All I can say is I tried the new Viscanti on the test server and it was awesome. For some reason I'm still a geo over there and it's officially the best choice for Geo IMO.

And Drunken dward is just retarded tanky. Ildaudid tanked ardrak who 3 shotted me.

I have been having some fights on the server (using tarot as astrology is slow as hell as a viscanti).

Heres my findings thus far:

*Can definitely tank against damage fairly well.
No recommendations, sipping is bad which is mostly a problem against mana and ego loss more than amages.
*So horrendously slow that with quickening fighting a surged knight was a chore as the quicken would end before his ana was low enough to entangle to try to kill.. he would often writhe from entangle before I got eq.
Suggest speeding up most skills or improving quickenings speed (or allow it to hasten itself instead of always waiting base race). ALternatively upping mana drains.
*Archons a rather painful...
Make them slayable
*Dwarves are just nuts O_O
Fix via sip penalty, weakness, resistance drops, and/or slowing them down

Ok, Tae'dae with 305 speed hammers, hits every 2.5 seconds.
165 speed weapons with 190 damage was hitting roughly every 4.5 seconds, and damage killed Revan who was viscanti. (roughly 1k damage a swing).

Here's a log of Tae'Dae vs. Viscanti. I was fully deffed and doing my best to heal... so yea. Also, this was with taint regen as well.

The point is that with 3 extra sword swings and 0 of a possible 10+ sparkles and heal scrolls and 0 attempts to stop him just butchering you, that log isn't representative of anything. In fact it's representative of solid Viscanti tankiness. Bet I couldn't survive that long as a demigod of any of my usual 3 races.

Estarra: since we're normalising stats and sip bonuses and speed lately, how about resistances and weaknesses too? That would help the mugwumps out a little and stop the tae'dae being disgustingly tanky.

I was looking through an old thread and I found this nice analysis of Viscanti v. Elfen as well. I thought I'd throw this into the mix too for more foundation to the "Fix Viscanti" camp.

As out of date as it may be, my recollection (as a player) of the viscanti sip penalty was that so long as you were in taint the regen more or less kept pace. It wasn't quite as good as having neither health regen nor sip penalty, but it wasn't far off. Given the additional advantages which viscanti have now been given, I find it difficult to believe that the revamped viscanti proposal is as unviable as you are suggesting.

I may be wrong. My much vaunted omniscience has an exaggerated reputation, but I'd suggest extended testing before dismissing it out of hand, or before agitating for a non-negotiable change which will impact in an unwelcome manner (imo) on the basic defining characteristics of the race.
