For some reason when I imagine specializations in Hallifax, I always think that lucidian will be the spec race for the guardian guild (maaaybe they could get it for Aeromancers too), and that trill would just get a spec for the Aeromancers and the warrior guild. (I also suggest that the name "Matrix Legion" be deleted and replaced with something cooler.)
My reasoning is that the lucidians always struck me as the more scholarly and scientific bunch, and the Institute of the Matrix screams scientific and full of scholars and the like, always exploring the great mysteries of the Basin and experimenting on things like their progenitor (just look at Arthar'rt), and since the trill are obviously the more artistic, emotional and charismatic side to the trill + lucidian equation, the Aeromancers and the warriors struck me as what they would have gravitated towards.
To me, it really makes sense this way, considering that Trillillial was the sun, the fire and the sky, to Xyl's cold and crystalline exterior. The trill are similarly the more passionate and fiery side in relationship they share with the more reserved and logically inclined lucidian.
But that's just my take on it. I goes hide now.

I like this idea and never considered the fact before that most were expecting -two- specialized races for the city. Surely the intention was not to give two branches of specced races for the same city?
That begs the question... -If- this is the intended outcome, should current race setup be skewed away from the specializations to allow for variety when the city -is- released?

They are close to going live, why not check it out for a week or two if the admins are willing to revisit the issue if there is a prolonged problem with it?
I know bal/equil stuff is super hard to test on roark's server due to the lag, so this would give us some time to recheck on the faster site and see how much of an impact some of the things truly are.

Because the admin are notoriously bad for comments like "oh just try it for a while and we'll change things in a couple of weeks if needed" and then just leaving us with the new "features" completely unaltered, no matter how many problems people are having with the system.

Boy, the admin suck!
But we do have a clever plan which I think many of you will appreciate!

Ooh! Admin do suck (pronounced rock) and I love clever plans, unless they involve...y'know...me not loving them.

It's not really about 'sucking,' it's just a problem with limited staff and a huge number of projects (which I think you're quite aware of by now, you've made comments about it before). When you finish one, it's time to move onto the next and there's not a whole lot of extra time to go back and re-examine the last one. That's just how it's generally gone so far.
Is the clever plan something that we find out this weekend, then?

You probably do.
But given your track record with "lets put the things on live for a bit and see how it works out", my point still stands.
Edit: As in trying to keep the changes from going live as long as possible while there's still a lot of debate about them is a BAD IDEA from the players perspective, because it usually means things are going to stay that way for another two years of complaining about races being majorly imbalanced before another rushed overhaul happens.

THey have a plan! Quick everyone run!
Admin dont suck.. they zap, code, cheat (do they ever), and show us why being divine is so much fun.
You all lurve us and we lurve you too
Doman2008-04-26 02:40:35
Yay Divine
Malarious2008-04-26 06:54:53
Are most complaints settled on then? Or did everyone run from the admins evil plan?
Rika2008-04-26 07:18:52
Well, the admins seem pretty deadset on a few things that I want to see changed, so no point trying to present a case again.

Cant hurt to post it once more, and reasoning why.. you either will get an answer or they might use it right?

Aww then I guess no you have no point in repeating it.
Since conversation has died down will we be hearing more on racial changes? I think everyones in agreement that mugwump are too squishy, faeling could use a con/str boost, etc.
Xavius2008-04-26 09:09:15
I might be the only one who thinks it, but the numbers people posted (from the server powered by a hamster on a wheel, yes, I know) don't show enough of a slowdown to warrant a mugwump upgrade, especially when you consider what mugwumps have done to game balance for so long. If every mugwump in the game doesn't feel absolutely shafted, the admin did something wrong.

Just dont make it a you were all so powerful for too long you should all suck to repent. Thats bad.
They are a bit slower.. what used to be 3 seconds to hit with is now 3.5. .5 seconds matters alot with things like writhe, focus times, and healing.
You just like to try to argue things dontcha xav?
Kiradawea2008-04-26 09:59:29
Furrikin still hasn't gotten any love. I still think Lucidian can do with another point of intelligence, and Trill should have an influence bonus at Empower battles (they strike me as good at that). That's my thoughts at least.
Although... shouldn't Dracnari get more of a boost too? Or is the Alcohol bonus enough to push them up from being "unplayable"?

Rika2008-04-26 10:07:22
Morgfyre said trill, lucidian or dracnari are probably not going to get any more upgrades because of Hallifax/Gaudiguch specs.

I shall preempt the divine and say Furrikin and Dracnari will be spec races eventually. Like Trill and Lucidian.
