Btw, Casilu, speaking of faeling monk damage - all monk damage is pitiful by way of the class' design. With the dexterity reliance of monks I don't actually lose a significant amount of wounds transitioning from human to faeling and back despite the strength dropoff. Looking at the terrible 150 wounds per hit figures you're going to get and then glancing over at Shuyin's stonking 1700 isn't that reliable.

Well, I've seen some other people's damage against me and without wounds and it seems to be about two or three times what my damage is.

Can you say, credit whore? Nothing erks me more than Honoursing someone, seeing they are 16 years old and 300% of my might (and not Penumbra people, people who in the logs showed up 3 days ago...).
Casilu2008-04-22 16:37:29
No, they were like less than half my might. I just do under 90 damage a hit unless they have wounds and I only really do respectable damage when they get to supermassive wounds.

Playing around with viscanti a bit.... and yea, the sip penalty really really needs to go. It's way too detrimental even with the resistances. Add that to the fact that not every room is going to be tainted. Lower the tant regen to 2 or heck, even 1 and nix the sip pnalty in favour of some other weakness. I dunno, maybe viscanti have an aversion to psionic damage or something *shrug*

Otherwise, the rest is ok, though I'm still of the mind that we need to deal a heavier hand to racial rebalancing instead of just look at these few races.

To give you a better idea... sipping like this....

I just feel like there's too much of a sweeping change with the balance thing, given what makes balance problematic.

I mean, sip penalites are really harsh. Maybe even harsher than balance helps at times. I feel like they should remove them from Viscanti and Aslaran, especially if the latter is going to lose their speed advantage. The former because it would probably be easier to balance them without trying to give a slew of little advantages to make up for a big disadvantage?

I'm just sort of guessing here.
Unknown2008-04-22 17:54:30
Nihilists are just a joke now. Any good nihilist that has ever existed has either been an aslaran or mugwump. We need speed. Without it, we're totally boned.

I'm not sure what this proves, other than four sabre-tooths instantly hit my vitality. Aslaran are soft with a sip penalty. Don't take away the speed without fixing something else, at least!

Are you sure the other stuff is live yet? Last night, the only thing that was actually up for testing on the test server were the speed changes as far as I could see. No demigod stats were changed, at least.

Though other stuff has been tested since then (like the drunkenness thing), I'm not sure if it's all actually in at this point.
Revan2008-04-22 18:33:57
As another thought, instead of giving viscanti all this influencing stuff, why not just increase their charisma? Viscanti, statistic-wise are still -vastly- inferior to merian and elfen... in fact specced merians have 8 more stat points than specced viscanti! That is an issue that needs to be ddressed as well as getting rid of the sip penalty. Overall you're not really fixing Viscanti, you're simply putting a bandaid on them that still makes them an inferior race even while specced. I can almost guarantee that very few will be switching to viscanti in Magnagora even with these changes.

@Xenthos: and yea, afaik the other stuff is live
Karnagan2008-04-22 18:54:45
Have to say, I wouldn't be temped to roll a Viscanti even with the new resists. Still a sip penalty and really low mana/ego. A decent try, but they're still too easy to kill for mana, and can rarely ever surge effectively.
Silvanus2008-04-22 18:56:39
A test Malarious and I did last night, his Amisso still out produced my Viscanti mana regeneration and mana sipping, meaning, if I sat there and did nothing all day but sip mana and he did nothing but Amisso, he'd be able to knock out my mana (it would take a very long time though). It's not a fix, and nobody in Magnagora will actually reincarante into Viscanti, as Revan pointed out.
Ashteru2008-04-22 19:02:41
I'd be favour of putting up the balance/equi changes alone for now and rethinking the "small" changes to races. We aren't asking for them to have their history rewritten or anything, we just want all races to be equally useful for combat.
ongaku2008-04-22 19:04:46
Yeah, we need to get rid of or lower the sip penalty for Viscanti. We don't really have much else that can make up for it. sleep.gif
