Could you please spar someone of equal skill to you and then post the log?

I think Malarious is working on the general idea that since Nihilists were bad before (which isn't to say that they were, just that he thinks so) they aren't going to able to do anything with mugwump speed nerfed.
Xiel has what seems to be a valid concern over in the combat forum, to contrast.

You are ignorant Shiri, pay attention, note I said absolve as well. As in, Celestines are having more problems with absolve now. Its not Nihilist specific. Its mana drains that arent really made to work so well at base speed (ignoring they dont seem to have been corrected for healing scroll) though moondancers are debatable, some say they will be fine others say they wont. I can see both sides of those arguments though so I am not quite sure at the moment. Remains that amissio/leech/and lash lost a bit of effectiveness that doesnt compare directly to the numbers, the eq went up .5 seconds and yet that really seems to be screwing things up.
Ashteru asked to make sure it wasnt 'personal belief' and it wasnt. Unless someone comes in and says otherwise presume its still not working for absolve either (the two main combatants have said absolve is screwed).
Shiri2008-05-03 12:10:48
You're going to have to do better than "you are ignorant." Rather than ignorance the problem here is a sneaky attempt to try and get upgrades in exchange for a downgrade which took an overpowered race back to a reasonable level. Its speed is still significantly higher than average, and that adds up over time.
Speaking of Celestines, they're a good example - we've had successful loboshigaru/taurian Celestines in the past who made do without any speed bonuses whatsoever. They mostly killed with soulless.

Celestines and Nihilists have entirely different offenses, however. Nihilists are largely dependant upon aeon which means speed is much more important than for Celestines, who can manage as tanky races.
Shiri2008-05-03 12:14:16
Hey, I'm not the one who brought it up.
Jack2008-05-03 12:16:52
True, and I don't necessarily disagree with what you're saying; but drawing parallels between Celestines and Nihilists is like drawing them between Druids and Mages, or BCs and BMs. Just because they're similar in execution doesn't mean you can compare them directly.

I decided to redo the reply, because when I read Shiris post I had quoted I noticed that it seemed like he was focusing on mugwumps being changed. That isnt actually my goal, my goal is to make my skills work at slower speeds than before with some adjustments. Mugwump just needed love not to be crappy, ideally I will be able to stay an aslaran or a viscanti or whatever race I want to be and not have combat utterly wrecked.
Again my goal isnt mugwump, they are dead and useless compared to before. (They cant really be overpowered if a human could fight em could they? ) My goal is to get things to work at base speeds.
Also soulless has never cared about speed, celestines dont need aeon for inquisition, but they need it for absolve, just like we need it for basically everything. Aeon is a crutch to rely on, but soulless has always been the better option if you are slow. It shouldnt be the only viable kill method though, wrack/absolve should both still be possible.
Hopefully that cleared up where we were going.

Sure, though same skill is subjective so suggest someone? Original testing was on Shiro outside of choke (the quickened leech/amissio test).
Some logs of mana draining with quickenined are now up in combat logs.

Seems like there are easier solutions than this anyway.
Remove rushing and hyperactive, remove the speedup of monk forms. Raise the floor and lower the ceiling for knight weapons.
This would negate the problems with monk's stuns and grapples and the extremeness of high ended knights on cloth while allowing the lower ended knights being useful.
It's much easier and it won't destroy speed races (and yes, the racial changes would indeed obliterate mugwumps. They rely on extreme speed and halfing their speed would be completely unreasonable for the damages they take with the tiny health they have available. Even a mugwump timeslipping while quickened can't negate all attacks currently.)

The changes for warriors seems to have only been making warriors stronger while leaving monks basically untouched. Can we try some of the above please? :/

Just spar a few people and try to go for wrack.

Because monk combat is totally overpowered at the moment.

Which is why you balance them
A few fixes should handle most of the issue but we are taking a complicated root to get there.

Race. Testing.
So I'm confused. Am I reading things right? The amount your damage goes up by increases with every point your strength / int increases, up to 20?
So there's a bigger difference between 15 and 16 than 14 and 15?

@Jitwix - Yes, that's what they're saying.
Xavius2008-05-03 15:28:14
Which is a really elegant solution to the low str/high speed with buffs issue. I never would've thought of that one, and it sounds like it'll work out well. I'm impressed.

NOTE: As in, make mana kills work at base speed more reliably than a crap shoot. Increase damage to adjust for the speed loss. Etc. Show me the love
Join the crap shoot club, at least you don't have to roll the dice to hit or miss, then roll again to try for the area you want (in this case it would be someones head and a hack down). THEN after getting lucky the second crap shoot, you get to go for the third crap shoot.... Will you inflict a behead...
Woot.... join the crapshoot club!

I just realized something. What the heck is gonna happen when Ackleberry comes out? Tae'dae are a pretty good race now, and furrikin won't take much to change.

Ackleberry will be run by ex Magnagorans, to make the people who have been begging for Ackleberry to choose sides against their old alliances and then Ackleberry Furri's will end up polluting the basin and preaching the genocide of elves, merians and faelings.

Furry = Drama
But what I mean is, ( and I know, dead horse, blah blah) is why Tae'dae suddenly became playable, while Trill = still pretty screwed, when the logic for Trill not being good now is because they would be too good when their Spec comes out.
