Uhh.

Will they also be made to have a natural miss rate, as well as the mob dodge rate? Since that can't be removed for weapons in bashing terms, we're told.

Good call. Then the maestro level instrument speed should be fair then? But actually, even if it doesn't misses delay by how long? a second? But still I suppose maestro level speed would make more sense since it doesn't miss

The miss delay is half the weapon speed, and is very frequent against high-level mobs (with their dodging). It's extremely annoying.

Why do mobs even get dodging? dry.gif

Don't forget the random dice rolls to see if your attack is 280 speed or not!

Bashara vs. me, no armour. I haven't been able to find a Shadowlord to do these tests with yet (Bash is a tracker, and most of the others around don't have the skills to do this or are a demigod).

I'm comparing the 'normal' Shadowlord strength (Flex & Bear) versus the 'normal' Elfen Lord strength (Flex & Bear), as Geburah, due to weighting, doesn't add anything more. Due to the nature of speccing, it's impossible to actually get the same person to test both races, so the best I can do is get other races with the same strength.

Lucidian ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Taurian
13 strength & 10 dex ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18 strength & 12 dex
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - striking my right arm with a:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Waraxe. (380/319/201)
2088 damage, 1135 wounds. ------------------------------------------------------- 2610 damage, 1419 wounds.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Greataxe. (214/531/194)
1413 damage, 1757 wounds. -------------------------------------------------------- 1766 damage, 2197 wounds.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Klangaxe. (144/348/259)
1127 damage, 1219 wounds. -------------------------------------------------------- 1409 damage, 1524 wounds.

It looks like the percent increase between 13 and 18 strength is twenty five percent.
2088*1.25 = 2610.
1135*1.25 = 1418.75.
2196*1.25 = 2196.25.
Etc. Works for all the numbers.

Then, compare that to a speed increase of 15% in return for that loss... there is a bit of a discrepancy here. The damage increase definitely should be a bit greater than the speed bonus, as the ability to get faster afflictions is very positive. However, when warrior afflictions (excepting that bloody stun) are based on wounding, having a penalty to wounding/damage this much greater than the speed is a bit of a problem. It ends up with spending much more time in the lower wounding states, so there's less ability to actually utilize the faster afflictions.

Solution is to either tighten the curve to about a +20% increase from 13 to 18, or to add +1 strength to Shadowlords, yada, yada. This hasn't really gotten any Admin comment yet, so it kind of looks like it's just being overlooked, but the specialization races really should be competitive with one another and this comparison is between Shadowlord and Elfen Lord (Merian Lord is very similar, with +1 str, -1 dex, and some other advantage/disadvantage swapping when compared to Elfen Lords).

+20% is still a greater effect than the 15% speed boost, but the speed boost does carry some of its own advantages as well-- so it still leaves the slower races with greater damage/wounding over time, with a bit less affliction speed.

Oh damn the temptation....

I must stay faeling!

Wow for orclach pureblades! It would be so tempting if it made sense at all for me. But it doesn't. But still, might have to switch to something else at this rate.

Dwarves have tons of resistances, a meaningless penalty, good Con, good Str, above average Int and average Charisma (for a warrior), damage reduction up to 20% I think, someone posted the exact figures somewhere, plus they are a specialized race. I really think that improving their dexterity is not needed.
Lendren2008-05-06 19:38:35
Anyone have a cumulative list of the changes in effect now?
Unknown2008-05-06 19:40:28
Rutharr asked someone to ask for this! smile.gif

Tae cubs would like someone to pass them some dexterity. dazed.gif

an 18 base int minorsecond for CANTORS? So very wrong.

Are you the local lusternian village idiot?

Dwarves with 10dex if you read any of the prior posts, do nothing for specialized wounding. This means if a dwarf AL has your arm at 40,000 wounds.... he is still going to have a huge hell of a time getting an amputate. You will probably be able to cure your arm before he gets the "die roll" to amputate.

10 Dex for a spec'd dwarf means getting the afflictions from wounding is rare. But the boost to the other low dex warrior spec races are nice. I just dont see why they didn't bump it up on dwarves... it would only effect warrior dwarves so its not like the dwarf druids would end up with higher dex.

I am quite disappointed in that. Honestly.

Aye noticed that imbalance too.

There's no earthly reason to let the the change remain unless their damage is downgraded.

If a cantor would be willing to test with me I'd be happy to show some logs.

INCREASE: Orclach : Dexterity 13 UPON SPECIALIZATION AS A PUREBLADE
INCREASE: Igasho : Dexterity : 10 UPON SPECIALIZATION AS A BLADEMASTER

and of course this:
INCREASE: Dwarf : Dexterity : 12 UPON SPECIALIZATION AS AN AXELORD

Yay for orclach. Funky eye-monsters for dwarf continuing to have poopoo-dex.

O.o

Doesn't dex affect acrobatics? Wouldn't that be bad for harbinger faelings? The gain is too minimal to be worthwhile.

Imperial Merians get a lovely 18 INT in exchange for a crappy 10 DEX. Could be worse!
