The amount of hunger enlarge/diminish cause is a bit ridiculous and needs to be decreased. Currently they bring you from satiated to starving in 4 hits, meaning anyone can just spam enlarge/diminish on you to make you hungry.

Oh yeah I agree with that, couple that with a simple script to mass use novices for starvation, a PB using rupture gut, a Necroscream bard and booyah you have a receipe for another cheap tactic. Hell passing out prones too, so you could always throw in a trample whore. Add in a nihilist who crucifies you while you are passing out from hunger.... anyways you get the point.
Would you agree though that making enlarge/diminish enchants/spells castable only on self would help though?

losing int doesn't hurt monks at all?

how would it? they don't surge nor do they use any attacks that are int based like mages. I don't think katas rely on any intelligence factor as to if they have a chance at messing up their katas due to being dumb. I could be wrong, but I don't think affects a monk in any way.

I was thinking of maybe the stealth or psychometbolism stuff. Not the Kata stuff.
Ildaudid2008-05-20 23:49:17
I wonder... it may help psymet but I don't think it helped in acrobatics and I am sure it didn't with stealth when I was one (unless it was very unnoticable) Again I could totally be wrong.
Thul2008-05-21 00:35:51
Psymet uses ego, not mana. Stealth uses mana, but active uses of it are few and far between. Monks don't really gain much at all from Int, I've found...
Which is kinda lucky, because I've got "mana kill me" tattooed on my forehead as it is.
Also, for the love of god, fix the hunger thing. ONE enlarge takes me from utterly satiated to stomach collapse/going unconscious. Should not be.

Subj: Bug fixes
- Cosmic enlarge and diminish now cause vastly less hunger (about 5% of
what they were causing), and only cause hunger if their effect actually
occurs.

and here I was hoping I'd have a neat combat tactic. Oh well, back to soulless/trueheal.
Lorick2008-05-21 10:22:50
Yeah, intelligence doesn't impact monk combat a great deal beyond the basics that require mana and a buffer from being mana killed.

Not very fond of the size changes..
Mainly how it's a huge upgrade to inquisition/soulless, and how warriors get shafted with low dex if they want the size for blocking (a very important athletics skill...) etc.

How is it an upgrade to the Inquisition/Soulless combination?
Ixion2008-05-22 20:56:28
Tumble change.

Imagine a dwarf warrior with his petty 10dex....
He ends up going from size 8 to 17 to better block.
Now his wounding is horrible, even as an AL since his dex sucked before. Now it is closer to 7-9 dex which means the chance of afflictions from him are minimal, damge is greater I guess "IF" he hits.
His combat stancing sucks he will be hit by anyone carrying a broom.
All this to better block his teamates from getting out.
Imagine how crappy he would be at size 25

Perhaps it would be good to simply junk the dex penalties for increased size? It's not like any class but warriors use STR for anything at all, and there are some warrior races that simply can't afford any DEX penalty- there aren't terribly many ways for a warrior to boost dex. Even though it's not our most important stat, it's needed for quite a few things.

What ways are there to raise dex besides TFs and Herofetes... and I am not positive if TFs do raise dex.
Kiradawea2008-05-23 07:35:31
Could get lucky with the chaos domoth minor blessing, mmm and I guess some class skills. Ritualists can get lucky through Fortuna.

Great idea!
Size 25 is the only size really worth using now since block got wttfowned and tumble utterly sucks now anyhow.
Massive nerfs and changes for what? A little more stun damage? I sadly laugh at that.
PS Ild having tested out size 25 dwarves, you're comments are spot on. It hurts.
