I'd post a pic about a nerd-wars, but Desi would picture-grief me from now on, so I am afraid.
Alodia2008-05-03 11:10:59
Watched it and it was really NICE!! Looking forward to War Machine though!
Jitwix2008-05-03 11:42:06
That was the best comic book movie ever. Maybe cause its the first one made by a studio belonging to the company that created the character.
I can't wait for Incredible Hulk now. And Thor. And Ant-Man.

The part after the credits was disappointing.
The part after the credits was the best part ever, I don't care what colour he is, they put Nick Fury in the movie! Awesome! As long as he has his eyepatch, I'm happy. And he said the 'Avengers Intitiative'. I did notice Fury seemed unusually dark-skinned in the Avengers Disassembled arc, which took place in the main universe, not Ultimate.

And an unrelated movie I am now anticipating... Wanted! I saw the preview in the big screen before Iron Man started
Jitwix2008-05-03 13:13:52
Ha, what are the odds? I just saw the preview for this week's Mighty Avengers. According to Daisy Johnson, Nick Fury's worst disguise ever is pretending to be black. Proves comics writers can laugh at themselves.
And today is free comic book day! Whee!
Noola2008-05-03 23:16:31
I just got home from watching it and it was so awesome! I totally left during the credits though so I didn't get to see whatever it was that happened after the credits!
Ah well, I did love the movie enough to see it again!

I did read a review somewhere where the reviewer said the after-credits scene was worth the price of admission. I'd tend to agree, but then, you just have to look at my sig to se how much of a comics nerd I am.

1: Why does he have to cameo in EVERY GOD DAMN MOVIE EVER? (PS I am a fanatical fan of his work, it is just getting a TEENY bit old).
2: Why does marvel keep changing the race of pivotal characters? While I appreciate diversity, both Fisk and Fury are deeply ingrained in a memory of reading comics for decades. Meh.
Other than my negativity, the moving was A++++++++++++++++++++++ awesome.

The Ultimate version of Fury was based on Samuel L Jackson. Seriously.
Besides, I don't think they'd want people to get too attached to the 616 Fury, because if current spoilers are true, he's been a skrull sleeper agent for the last 30 years (and the real one is coming back to be one of the supporting cast in the non-skrull Spider-Woman's solo book).
Ildaudid2008-05-04 20:58:30
At least people will now know who Raekwon/Method Man/other Members of Wu were referring to when he said things like Tony Starks.
Jitwix2008-05-04 23:53:07
I was waiting for a holographic Jarvis to pop up. But he didn't.

The Ultimate version was based on Jackson after they knew they were signing him to start portraying Fury. Just marketing spin. Fisk had the same make-over in a comic that came out suddenly between signing the guy from Green Mile and the release of Dare Devil as well.
Jitwix2008-05-05 06:57:18
I heard they just couldn't get a white guy who was big enough to play Fisk.

I wasn't disapointed, as i went in not expecting much. I cought some of the fun humor, but some of it was rather lame. i give it an 70% out of 100%
Also i hated that Nick fury was at the end hes not even a super hero. Whats his greatest ability, he can shoot people?

Nick Fury's only superpower is that he ages really slowly. Seriously. Look it up. He was given some sort of weak form of Captain America's supersoldier serum or something that slows cell death. The thing that makes him cool and powerful is that he has control of an an entire government agency with helicarriers, super weapons, and even some superheros.
Or, he used to. Currently, in the comics, S.H.I.E.L.D. is headed by Tony Stark, and Fury is a wanted fugitive, but hey, no worries, he still has access to aspects of S.H.E.I.L.D. that Stark doesn't even know exist, and he has a plan to save earth from the Skrulls.
And, btw, yes, there is a S.W.O.R.D. too.
EDIT: Scratch the helicarrier part, they can't have many left, one seems to get blown up every month. I think Red Hulk took out one last month.
