So... who else is watching ice hockey, who's has the chance and is watching it live (if you are, I envy you!). Who supports who and who do you think will win the Champs.

I'm all excited since I've always considered ice hockey to be the national sport of my country. I've been watching it since I remember myself and that's pretty much a thing that makes me damn proud about my country.

I come from Latvia, I country with 2.2mil citizens, with 4.5k registred ice hockey players and 16 indoor arenas. And still, despite all that, we're pretty much in the top 10 in the World. Against all odds, against coutries like Canada with 500k registred ice hockey players we survive.

Anyway, I just thought someone should start a topic like this. I bet there are people who follow the Championships and who have something to say.

So GO! smile.gif

*comfort* I don't have a telly either, just because I don't generally watch it. Anyway, I found a website where I can watch at least games where Latvia plays. Actually, I think you could be able to do it as well, it's on VIASAT, I know there's a Finnish VIAsat website as well, just my Finnish isn't good enough to figure out if they offer streaming TV over the internet (for free). Might want to check it out.

Thanks! He'll appreciate it.

Was at my friend's yesterday, FIN-GER 5 - 1. Expected but nice with the new coach and all.

Well, so far so good. At least managed to get to qualifications. That was to be expected but, meh, being in one starting group with USA and CAN was tough. We got two bad beats in first two games, and won the third.

I hate IIHF's website though. It's a genuine pain in the butt to check the game schedule. Instead of displaying it in neat rows, you jsut get a loooong list with which is incomplete as of now and just had codes instead of team names (eventhough most of them are already known).

Anyway, looking forward for the next game... and damn, I just spent two minutes calculating and... next game is 1C vs 3B, which, depending on how the remaining two games in group C goes, could be Finland VS Latvia smile.gif)

That'd be great.

Congrats Saaga smile.gif FIN 2:1 LAT

I'm very disappointed though. We spent like half of the game time with only four players on the ice. That was ridiculous, half of the penalties were absolutely ridiculous.
Either way, the game was pretty nice. And even though we lost, we scored a point against you guys. As it was, Latvia hadn't scored a single goal against Finland since we regained independance, which was 1991. We've played a 0:0 draw a couple of times, lost a few times, but never had we scored. At least we managed to change that!

Hrm, now we have to win both Norway and Germany to get into quarter-finals smile.gif

EDIT:
Oh, yeah, good luck against USA wink.gif

A lot of our players suck, doesn't matter how many players we have. tongue.gif

Hehe... still, you have many, many.... maaaaaaany good ones as well! So good luck to you too!

OH MY GOD!

I don't suppose anyone really expected this. Finns beat USA. 3:2!!!
That must've been a hell of a game, too bad I was not able to watch it.

Anyway, hope is still strong for Latvia. We need to beat Germans to make it to quarter-finals. What happens after that isn't all that important anymore. There's but a few teams we can compete with on that level, unless there's a miracle!

It was quite a show. I think our first goal went through the net, heh. A violent game.
And we have beaten them before, we just have a bad team this year.
