Yep, Nejii's right.

'You have no influence with the undead.'
Asmodea2008-05-06 07:13:05
Can bookbinders talk undead?
Xiel2008-05-06 07:41:21
It's not a language, I think, so I'm guessing not.
Ashteru2008-05-06 08:08:51
To clarify, I don't care one way or another, it just seems to make "sense" for Glom and Mag to be able to influence undead, while Celest and Seren can't. Make some furry language needed to influence Estelbar or some french needed to influence Delport, and Seren and Celest get the abilities to influence those.
Arix2008-05-06 08:18:39
What makes you people think the undead WANT to talk to some stuck up jerk from Celest or a Seren Barbarian?

(those were general and not directed at specific people)

Why is this a problem? Some areas are ruled by undead persons making it impossible for Celestians/Serens to influence for amnesty (or influence period).

Unless I am mistaken, you are supposed to be able to influence them for amnesty, regardless of undead or not.

I mean, Ladantine takes money REGARDLESS of the source, he needs to "Flip His Cave"

No you can't.
Ashai2008-05-06 12:47:04
Well, it's clearly an RP thing that Glom and Mag can win Ankrag. The question here is, are you trying to imply that you would sacrifice Celest's (anti-undead etc) RP just so you can potentially control all of the villages?
Gwylifar2008-05-06 15:13:27
It's just another kind of RP to try to persuade someone that they're doing the wrong thing and they should change it. In some ways, that can be more RPish than "just kill the icky things".
Urazial2008-05-06 15:38:22
I'm not sure how you can pursuade someone who's undead that they're wrong for being undead and that they should change. However, it would lovely if there was was say, Happygumdrop village that only Celest and Serenwilde could influence easily so that Glomdoring and Magnagora could then go in and kill the denizens and drag out a revolt needlessly for hours. Just as long as there was an item we could also acquire from Celestians or Serenwilde that allowed us to influence as well, of course.
Gwylifar2008-05-06 16:10:15
That would be great. Mags and Gloms wearing big pink floppy bunny ears so they can influence! Do it!

(Incidentally, one of my favorite moments in Aetolia was when I did, in fact, persuade someone who was undead that she was wrong for being undead, and that she should change, which she did.)

ICly, Seren and Celest should not want to lord over a village that is full of Undead, they should want to destroy it for being filled with abominations. Celest and Seren should not be given the ability to influence Undead because they shouldn't want to converse with them, they should want to kill them.

Don't you do it, don't you open that can of worms here. Alternate victory condition: OVERKILL OF POPULACE!

It would be kind of funny to allow Celest/Seren to "influence" the village but if they won they would backstab the trusting undead and slay them all. The village would then be empty for the normal time, with 0 comms going to anyone. Then when the next revolt came around the dead would rise again with convenient memory wipes about the whole thing.

Of course looking at the current village state I do not think Celest or Seren need any more help in that area. Count me down with the group that finds some small Asymmetry interesting. Small being the key word, and in the big scheme of things I think a single village is not that big of a deal. It would be good to see some mobs that refused to interact with anyone who had the stink of undeath about them (anyone who could become undead, or who was currently undead). Perhaps not in a village, but something.

I agree with Doman. It's not some undead language, just a lack of influence. I see no reason why everyone ought to be able to influence them.

I disagree with Kaalak that this suggestion would make the game symmetrical. He's suggesting that your ability to influence them be raised a bit and the rest of us allowed to influence them. Seems more than fair.

I disagree with Ongaku. If Magnagora (or Glomdoring) can influence a village full of snuggly little children (and they have), why can we not influence a village full of ugly ol' undead things? You could make it harder to do the influencing, sure, but not impossible.

(Disclaimer: I do almost no influencing myself, so my opinions are based solely on the "facts" given by others.)
