I'd like it if one could at least Influence undead for Amnesty. Or if Emissary allowed one to use Amnesty on Undead. That's what I'd like at least.
Doman2008-05-06 19:37:31
I don't want to be able to win Angkrag. I want to be able to influence the leaders of Paavik if I have spent 1000+ lessons into being ABLE to influence things. It would be a VERY high influence skill, so it wouldn't be feasible for us to win Angkrag, but we could still be more useful

influence korath with amnesty

I don't mind not being able to influence undead. I would prefer though if amnesty worked regardless if undead or not. I just tested it out on Korath and if I ever wanted to get amnesty so I could hand in orcs or do the catacomb quest without the help of others, I wouldn't be able to unless I got the help of a Mag or Glom (not going to happen anytime soon). Another place of undead is Shallamurine, and while that possibly has to be one of the more annoying quests around, I wouldn't be able to get amnesty if I wanted to due to their undead status. Or to Angkrag, because I believe the leader there is undead as well. So...just make amnesty work regardless of undead status, I suppose. I suppose I could try out parley, but I'd rather use the skill I have rather than just giving out large sums of gold.
Doman2008-05-06 19:41:48
I want to be always able to influence undead though. Why should Paavik mroe easily go to mag or glom cuz they can influence the ghosts?
Gwylifar2008-05-06 19:42:04
Maybe someone could convince a friendly local envoy to suggest an exception for amnesty?

It doesn't. Someone always does the quest or kills the ghosts.
I haven't seen a ghost in a Paavik influence in ages.

It just doesn't make sense to me WHY the undead don't care what someone has to say, but you stop their heart with a song and suddenly they have everything to listen to

Because that's the Lusternian-Mythos. The reason Crow cloaks allow you to speak to Undead is because of Brennan, I believe. The Crow quest requires speaking with Brennan, but he ignores all living beings. You need to be wearing a Crow cloak in order to even get his attention. Just seems like an extension of how the Admin see undead in general reacting to the living.

That's just the problem. I think with my mad charisma and insane knowledge of how to manipulate people to do what I want, I should be able to work past that.

You can. Use your mad charisma and insane knowledge of how to manipulate people to get a crow cloak!
It doesn't seem set up for a skill in Influence to bypass the mechanics. It's actually somewhat surprising that they allowed Crow cloaks to work past it, to be honest.
Arix2008-05-06 20:05:39
get a Mag or Glom to get amnesty for you.
Sarrasri2008-05-06 20:10:14
Some of us aren't exactly liked by Mags or Gloms and aren't wanting to rectify that anytime soon.
Ixion2008-05-06 20:12:18
Some of us wouldn't rectify it even if you asked.
Doman2008-05-06 20:15:55
I don't care how "distant" you are. If you are aware of the area around you, you can be "influenced"
The undead are aware. They probably don't care about anyone but other undead or people with Crow cloaks (Racism anyone?) but I really think that if I can influence the master of a monastry with seduction, I should have some rudimentary influence with the undeaders

All this angsty rectification, DAYUMN.
Arix2008-05-06 20:18:38
There is a part of the brain that most denizens have, that allows them to be influenced by regular people. Undead used to have it, but it rotted and fell out, so they'll only listen to other undead and people dressed like birds.
