I don't care how "distant" you are. If you are aware of the area around you, you can be "influenced"
The undead are aware. They probably don't care about anyone but other undead or people with Crow cloaks (Racism anyone?) but I really think that if I can influence the master of a monastry with seduction, I should have some rudimentary influence with the undeaders

Should there also be a way to influence greedy denizens with charity, for example? Since all NPCs currently are immune to one form of influence, and you seem to be arguing that you should be able to use all of them on any NPC.
I really don't have an issue with getting amnesty from undead village leaders, but... it is sounding a bit like sour grapes for other things when there IS an option (more so now than at any other point in Glomdoring's history) of bypassing it. Just need to work something out with Arel, on an organizational level.

That's just the problem. I think with my mad charisma and insane knowledge of how to manipulate people to do what I want, I should be able to work past that.
Sorry you have a pulse, and havn't proven your worth by getting the required item of great worth and reputation.
Doman2008-05-06 20:58:48
If I GET the item, I get enemied by glom

No, I was told very specifically if I was caught wearing one, I would be Killed on sight
Malicia2008-05-06 23:22:39
Doman stop complaining about everything!

Replace current sucky Minor Death Domoth blessing with this.
Unknown2008-05-07 00:16:23
Yesssssss.
Rika2008-05-07 06:46:10
Since I didn't see anyone say anything about this, no, you cannot influence undead with amnesty, but I THINK you can parley. Not that this makes it any more fair either.
Doman2008-05-07 07:21:04
It seems kinda like there are two parties here.
RP without background versus Mechanics & Fairness.
The Main arguments are for people who don't want Seren and Celest to be able to influence undead are "RP says you can't." while pro-undeadspeech for all is "It's unfair that we have no feasible way to use amnesty on undead" especially Seren.
I really think a very high level influence skill, or adding undead speech to charismatic aura would fix everything. If a Mag or Glom has both their ability for speaking to undead, and the influence skill, they would get a bonus.
How is this not a good idea besides "Lol, RP says different" when it doesn't. From what I can tell, this started way back in the day when it was Glom/Mag versus Seren/Celest, and "Good and bad" were more directly defined, so The good guys couldn't get the bad village.
Celest doesn't want Angkrag, I don't want Angkrag. I just want fairness on some level.
Edit: for clarification, By "RP doesn't say it would work" not being true, I mean that besides "You have no influence with the undead" there is no background behind why EVERY undead resists all living attempts to change their mind for anything.

I don't want to be able to win Angkrag. I want to be able to influence the leaders of Paavik if I have spent 1000+ lessons into being ABLE to influence things. It would be a VERY high influence skill, so it wouldn't be feasible for us to win Angkrag, but we could still be more useful
I'd like a good Environment trans skill also but i don't see one comming, sorry.
Editted to stop a double post.
There are natural ways of becoming undead, one of the Terentia's told me, we discussed it for a good while about how some of the Taurians use a racial sense to become the undead.
Also doesn't Glomd hate the undead?
Saran2008-05-07 08:58:07
Hartstone could totally have a face paint (in blood) that lets you talk to the spirits of the land. We summon ancestral spirits and Chuchip all the time... so yeah.

Ghosts and liches are both undead. That means that they are dead people who manage to exist after they die by being coated in ectoplasm or by getting back into a body. They are 'alive' in the sense that they are not an inert corpse but 'dead' in the sense that their souls are not connected to a body in the normal way.
Because their soul and body do not hook up the same way as a normal person's, their minds work differently. You have to understand how a person's mind works in order to be able to talk them into things. Unless you are undead, work with the undead alot or have a magical means of getting your message across, you can't influence an undead with anything more stuble than debating and mindblast.
For balance, I support undead leaders being willing to listen to amnesty and parley influences. They are leaders and would make an effort to understand what you are asking for. Aside from that, I don't think you should be able to influence the undead unless you have at least one of the requirements listed above.

That sounds very reasonable. I agree with this idea.

No giving the Death Throne a new power until the Nature Orb (that has been bugged since Domoths were introduced) is fixed! Hmph, I say.
