Step One: Research.
Step one is the most important part of your description writing, and should also be the easiest.
You should look for information on both the physical traits of your desired race, and of their dispositions.
Do they have fur? What variations might there be in the race? Should they be portrayed as tense or relaxed?
Are they friendly or withdrawn? These questions will affect both how your character appears, but also how you need to handle your role playing.
