Also, I don't think it's always been this way. Back when Selverad was more active (he's 88 at the moment, so that was a while ago) I never had the kind of problems with influencing that I'm having now. It is a Bad Thing ™ when I have to sit and stare at the screen for five straight seconds, hitting my attack and sip keybinds and hoping that my bars won't jump to 0 when it catches up with itself.

The lag is only overly bad in certain situations. So I can only offer the bits of advice to help, and it will only make a difference for you if it is indeed ATCP which is affecting your lag problems. It may very well be your own net connection or some router thingie between your computer and Lusternia's server.
- if you use CMUD, turn ATCP off for now.
- if you use Mudbot, leave it off for the time being.
- if you use Nexus, err...try another client for now.
- if you are using anyone's system which uses a proxy or plugin to ATCP, turn those triggers off.
It's not going to solve all the lag, if you have a massive amount, but it has helped me and several of my friends so far. Hopefully they will find the renegade code calls soon, and we can go back to enjoying our nice ATCP triggers

nexus doesn't seem to have much lag for me compared to MUSH.
Neuf2008-06-26 21:39:32
Maybe it's a conspirarcy to make us all use Nexus!...oh dear.

The lag isn't as horrible as all of you say it is.
If you want it to change, buy some credits to support Lusternia and stop complaining.

Credits have not a thing to do with whether or not there is lag.
Also just for the record, I am a buyer of credits, numerous thousands in my time of IRE.

Do you want a medal or a truefavour for that?
I have spent entire days playing lately and maybe had a handful of bad lagspikes per IG month.
My internet is horrible as well.

Um. You happen to be the one to have come up with the absurd dismissal in the first place, so... you really shouldn't get snappy when it's blown away.

It is a pretty presumptuous notion that buying credits wouldn't contribute to the growth or improvement of the servers at some point in time.

It's been stated that this lag is "not a server issue," so it's even more presumptuous to state that buying credits right now will auto-magically upgrade the server. Especially if the credits that have already been bought have us at the stage where we're at now.
Besides: Credits are an "I like what you're doing with the game so far, and I want to support it" purchase, not an "I really dislike this, so I'll buy credits so you will upgrade it" thing. If it was the latter, everyone who bought credits would be able to say, "Hey, I just paid you $300, go overpower XYZ skillset." It just does not work that way.
Desitrus2008-06-26 23:02:51
Also, IRE MUDs all use the same hosting service, there was a giant move a while back because the hardware was lagging. Not to be all "other realmy", but we're the only ones spiking this hard lately. It's not just our imagination and it's pretty bad, pretty much every OOC clan I'm in lights up with "Spike" "Lag" "Is it just me?" every time that I spike too.

When did I say it would immediately absolve the issue as if by magic?
Every problem takes time to fix, thats pretty much common knowledge.
I didn't think I'd have to explain that.
Obviously everyone posting here cares about the lag, so why wouldn't they want to buy credits?
I haven't been getting this super-crazy lag that everyone is talking about, sorry.

There we go. Completely disregarding that the people you're talking to have purchased a considerable number of them to support Lusternia.

How convenient that someone who happened to already buy credits quoted me and said, "Already did."
Seriously.

How convenient that you posted, "Hey, buy credits and the issue will be fixed," when that's already been proved incorrect... which really means all I have to do is quote you. Makes this very easy. The credit purchase itself has absolutely nothing to do with the matter.

Oh, Xenthos. You are just deliciously argumentative.
Incase you didn't actually read the post I never said the issue will be fixed.
It was more along the line of, buy credits if you want Lusternia to flourish.
Not look at me I'm a technician all you have to do is install the credits.

Nope. What you said, was, *exactly*, "If you want it to change, buy some credits to support Lusternia and stop complaining." Thus: If you aren't buying credits, you have no right to complain if there's a part of the game you don't like. If you do buy credits, you also have no right to complain, but at least it'll get fixed!"
Then, when it was pointed out that your claim was absurd on multiple levels by someone who bought credits, you came up with this gem: "Do you want a medal or a truefavour for that?" I mean, the person did exactly what you were suggesting, but even that's not good enough for you.
PS: It does look like you're trying to back off of what you posted, so if you want to just stop arguing it, feel free. You're not getting very far, anyways.
