Ok i'm trying to write a poem and i need to know how long ago from the current year 207 Estarra that project cosmic hope was innacted in 582 Holy Empire i believe.

So if you know that please tell me

OR if you know what Holy Empire year Estarra came i can do the math to figure out how long ago it was.
Ralanbek2008-05-20 22:37:27

Uh, the Coming of Estarra was when players first started the game, so Estar 1 Year 1 Coming of Estarra was the first time players entered, Celestine Empire dates would be unrelated.

Actually, the game started 25th of Roarkian, 99 ACE.

Wrong, we weren't born on 1st of CoE. My birthday is:

1st Estar 79

I choose to start at age 21, so anywhere from 71 CoE to 84 CoE.

But that's not what Ralenbek is asking, he's asking how long between the Fall of Celestine Empire and the Coming of Estarra. I'd say it's somewhere around 50 or so years, just based on the history that I know through d'Murani.
Daganev2008-05-21 07:02:23
My impression was that it was hundreds if not thousands of years between the fall of the empire and the comming of Estara.

Yeah, I really doubt it's as short as 50. Huge swathes of mortal life went into hiding and were only recently rediscovered. Tolborolla, the Moors, the Presidio, and so on: I doubt everyone would have forgotten about them that fast.
Silvanus2008-05-21 08:16:31
Well, I suppose nobody else but d'Murani have access to the history and I'm not even sure if this history is set in stone, but according to d'Murani, Rushdam d'Murani (Vizier of Magnagora during Taint Wars) is only three or four generations away from Silvanus. He appointed his son, Rakdyn as his successor, who had ordered his children (my parents) to be hidden, as they were being killed off. My parents (his children) are children at around 30 CoE. It is quite possible there is a generation in there or two, but I believe it is generally much closer then you seem to believe.
Shiri2008-05-21 08:21:19
Well, you could be right, but that could also be an inconsistency, or a generation might be exceedingly long since everyone lives for centuries. I understand that your example is (probably) canon, and mine isn't, but I still can't really buy that all these places disappeared completely from memory in 50 years and then it took us another 100 years to find them again.

Well, that may be true, but I imagine those generations are longer than you expect. I say this because of help Viscanit.

Through years of interbreeding, they have become recognized as a race unto themselves.
Qistrel2008-05-22 06:32:11
So what's like the standard period of time between generations for history writing? Considering we're all bascially immortal...
Doman2008-05-22 06:39:06
I got the feeling of about 300 years...I don't know why, really.

Why not go IC and ask Ladantine.
Inox2008-05-22 07:11:44
Each quatrain of the verses of Magnora had a number in the 900s, and described events happening in the same year in the 100s, so I always assumed that the 900 numbers were the Empire dates. Though, I don't know why Mugowumpois would use those dates.

So, by this line of reasoning, it would be 1007.

yeah, think i'm gonna go with that estimate. 1007 years ago...
thanks for the help everyone!

Shiri2008-05-23 04:58:06
I don't think Inox is right. The verses weren't 1 per year. More than one happened in the same year.

I don't think that's unreasonable. The Taint Wars were a time of unbelievable chaos. Let's review what would have happened to centers of knowledge.

1) Celest - Destroyed, rebuilt years later by refugees and exiles.

2) Ackleberry - Locked out of reality.

3) Gaudiguch - Frozen in time.

4) Hallifax - Frozen in time.

5) Gloriana - Destroyed/changed into Glomdoring

6) Magnagora - Destroyed/changed to Taint

7) Serenwilde - Began to ignore the outside world.

And sure, people would remember things, but how many people would find it important to tell their children about Tosha or the Grey Moors when there were bigger things to worry about?

I think you were actually the first one to suggest it(in the news, anyways). That's where I got the assumption from.
