I was all for Ariadne's actions. I'm a big fan of the early Magnagoran RP. You disrespect someone enough, you die.

I miss those days. sad.gif

That's not RP on Ariadne's part, she's always killing new people who don't even have skills. Nothing against her, she kills people who are much larger than her too, but she griefs.

On ponderance, this is ALSO the person who used a trial reincarnation to go Kephera, and stand at the megalith, acting AFK, way before.

SO, I had someone with a demon force him to follow me to shallach, where I took him into the water, and used psionics to rip away his waterwalk/breathe, and merely walked away....

Are any of you guys talking about Zaden?
Shamarah2008-06-03 21:35:30
Anyone who claims to have never gone AFK in a public place is a liar or a more attentive person than I.

Who cares about novices, why haven't you mapped the new area yet! *Whipcrack*

The afk is secondary. It mostly had to do with the being a kephera.
Imagine if a novice decided to use their reincarnation to become an illithoid or (insert hated race here) and sit t YOUR nexus, ignoring you

I did.

You are a big softie mate. Take the game back 2 years or so and ask yourself WWMD (what would murphy do).

I'll leave it up to others to tell you how I handled novices in the ur'guard, and a lot of them loved it.
Murphy2008-06-04 02:12:59
PS I've always found the best way to sort out novices who just won't behave is to lock them up with afflictions and let them suffer. Windpipe locking was the most fun I think. Also breaking both legs. Nihilist was fun for that too haha. If you throatpipelock them, they can't talk either which is sensational.

I think most of us make big mistakes by approaching newbies in a too soft manner. Most newbies are confused, but people who do stuff like described in the original post... nope, experienced player here. Not necessarily an alt, but someone who knows how to play MUDs (probably IRE MUDs to be precise). If they do something stupid, they do it to cause trouble. No need to go easy on them only because the character is new, or to feel bad afterwards.

I can't lock windpipe, but when Zaden was attacking me, I broke both of his arms. Then when he started kicking me, I broke both of his legs as well. Then he just started badmouthing me and the other people, so I knocke him on his ass and went to go do something else

I'm glad he left us then and is now someone else's problem.
Arix2008-06-04 04:12:53
well in all fairness, I DID warn you about him

While that might hold true as a general rule, killing a character for a custom dance emote is out of line, and siding by default with the aggressor without so much as questioning that person is incompetence. Gross incompetence. Paint a huge orange target on your crotch because you're unfit for work as an undersecretary incompetence. I could log on right now and do the exact same thing in the oh so horribly oppressive Glomdoring and no one would even think to attack, berate, or do more than make a sharp quip. If I went and did that and did get attacked, the aggressor would get disfavored by every CR6 person standing there who saw the whole incident, and killing communemates isn't against the law in Glomdoring.
Unknown2008-06-04 07:24:48
Hey, people being too soft on novices is one thing. Ariadne being an idiot is another.

We might look at him funny, though.
