I liked it a fair bit, though I must say I agree that the base plot line seemed too B-lot sci-fi for my tastes.
There was only one snake in this movie (or only one that I remember), but they made very good use of it.
And the brief appearance that the arc had made me grin.

I love the old Indie.. I just.. the end was just... no.
I mean, I'm ok with the mild level of supernatural that they throw at you with the grail and the ark.. but
Also, I'm sorry, but the second-to-last scene, on the top of the temple.. could the dialogue have been any worse?

a goddamn flying saucer tearing up out of the ground? I didn't think X-Files 2 was set to come out for a bit yet. I would have been cool with alien artifacts.. but they took it way too far. You never had an angel come down and smite people in the old Indie.. why the

I enjoyed it. I think the part that had me going "yeah, right, no ing way" was when he jumped in the refridgerator which happened to be the only thing that survived A NUCLEAR BLAST.
I enjoyed the diner fight scene, thought it was hilarious. Also, when they rode into the university library on the bicycle, and Ford answers a student's question had me laughing.
