I think we will go a LONG way if miniatures didn't decay so quickly.

Change the decay time to like 500 months, and I bet they will be used more.

I want to chime in as well and remark that the Envoys are empowered to bring issues to our attention if they feel it is necessary, outside of the envoy reports (which focus on the balance of individual skills). So there are 22 (1 for each guild, plus 2 special envoys) experienced and active players who can and do bring issues which should be addressed up. I think that is a pretty big group, and I agree with Estarra that to form another, separate envoy committee would be pretty counterproductive.

Various skillsets (Riding, Dramatics, Crow, etc.) - With the exception of riding (which we've held off on for reasons I don't want to get into), I think the present state of the skillsets are relatively solid (yes, even Crow). However, there's always room for improvement and the hope was for envoys to keep up with necessary adjustments to any issues.

Miniatures (Anyone remember what these are?) - This isn't one of my favorite systems but was designed by someone who thought players would think it's nifty. We actually haven't heard much about what players would want to improve it but it's not really something I think we should spend too much of our resources to develop more.

I actually made a topic about Miniatures and ways to integrate and make them more fun and useful. I probably had a bad title for it. It's fairly long, but I think it could be fun and useful, cause they actually were popular, just vastly annoying and with no motivation other than bragging rights.

I really do appreciate the work of envoys, which is why I get really frustrated with parts of the system. You are phenomenal with bugs. But the IDEA system absolutely blows. I don't know any player that even believes it's still used. Envoys work hard with specific skillsets. But they only get one submission a month. It's really hard to get changes to things. There's one I've been trying to get changed since an announce post (#1028) back in late February. I've tried IDEAing it, I've tried talking to three different envoys about it. There's simply more important things for them to submit. I would love a way for us to get various small fixes across.

Here is what I've been trying to get changed:
- It is now possible to inscribe multiple Tarot cards and Runes at once:
INSCRIBE with

I wanted this to be added for dreamweaving motes. You should be hearing about it again from an envoy through the special skill reports being submitted. But this was my idea. Make it so that you can
DREAMWEAVE . Have power taken from RESERVES instead of PROMPT. Dreamweavers need motes just as badly as those two need runes and cards, but dreamweavers have to wait for willpower, equilibrium, power to regeneration from reserves to prompt, and then power to draw from a nexus and refill the reserves. If the problem would be that it saves willpower and you don't want it to, then make it so that it consumes the total amount of willpower that would be consumed had you done each individually. But this helps save time for regenerating power and consuming balance, leaving only meditation and drawing from the nexus for more motes. It's really only fair to implement it this way since the others were.

Some kind of way to address these sorts of issues would be really nice.

Hey, the IDEA system -does- work.

Trust me. I've gone through it many times, as have other admins. We do see them, and we sort them. And everything gets read by someone, if not multiple someones, and are compiled. I've been there, done that - a lot of us have! It works! I promise! Little Ceasar's Honour.

If you can remember any off the top of your head, can you name any IDEAs that have been accepted (or even actually implemented)?

We have as little idea about that as with the BUG system, except that sometimes Morgfyre posts lists of some bugs that were fixed.
Eventru2008-05-31 00:20:24
There's been a lot of bugs that come through the idea system (Bob not selling Tahto and Jakari sticks out to me), I believe that you should now see sands come in from Elemental Lords/Collective Aspects (on your powerlogs), which was actually from the IDEA list, also I remember discussing a bug we were notified of from the IDEA list to do with the collegium healing quests, hm hm. Oh! Wandering mobs not wandering while being influenced! There's some others as well. Don't make me look!
Rika2008-05-31 01:21:25
I thought the wandering mobs while influencing thing came after a lot of discussion about it on the forums. Not that I'm saying IDEA doesn't work. I know the admin do look through them, but it's probably because of the long times between submission and implementation that IDEA is seen to be ineffective by the playerbase.

No...I had to waste an envoy slot to get that fixed.

Right, but I think Xenthos's point was that 99% of the playerbase -doesn't- see that you're working on these things. Honestly, those of us not in the envoy system know very little about what's being planned/developed/thought about being changed until the announces come up (or we're living with an envoy person or something like that). My sense is that a little more transparency to the process might be nice, though I don't have any ideas right now for how to do that while still maintaining your impartial-ness.

If anyone doesn't believe him, there's an orca in the Kiakodan reserve. That was from an IDEA that I submitted. Try feeding it penguins. That was also an IDEA. If you feed it enough, notice that it gets playful and happy. That was also an IDEA.

Could someone please fix the bug with the Castle Djarrakh quest? It mainly crops up when trying to plough the field around the Kipp mob and it's driving me mad, I've been attempting this quest for well over an RL year with no joy!

I've had no problems with it.
Everiine2008-05-31 04:07:03
I always have that problem with that quest.
Eventru2008-05-31 04:09:46
You should file a detailed bug report, Chad - I'm not seeing anything about the Djarrakh quest that would impede its progress/completion.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. The idea I posted has been in IDEA since the announce post. that's February 25th. I've pushed it on envoys who are already backed up or just otherwise not concerned with a convienience factor over a skill issue. It's extremely frustrating.

Sure happy to do so, filed a very detailed bug report on it awhile back but it's basically relating to the quest items you need to recover from ploughing in order to gain keystones, you can generally only get one or the other, will go have a check as the bug manifests itself in different ways each time the quest resets.
Furien2008-05-31 06:09:40
I can definitely attest to the bugs- fixes for dreamweaver 'blindness', being unable to use MAP, and do loads of other things while in dreamform came from loads of bug reports I've sent.
