So I definitely just got status without declaring. I don't want to post the El Gigante log, but I can mail it wherever if you like. It was a bleeding death, which makes me think that particular piece of code may not be working yet? Yes, I use PK CAREFUL religiously.
Rika2008-06-02 08:28:32
Sure you weren't somewhere/did something which made you auto declare?
Desitrus2008-06-02 11:53:36
Like where? I was not defiling or on enemy territory. I defended someone, ported to them, was able to hit the Magnagoran in question, ended up bleeding him out, and got suspect.

Are you required to DECLARE someone that you have status on as a bully to attack them? Or if you try to attack them without DECLARE first, will it still attack and then drop the status. I'm under the belief that you do have to DECLARE if you want to attack someone and drop their status, but I'm not always sure.

Last I checked (and it was a while ago) I could attack someone who I had status on without declaring. This would remove them from my bullies list. But yea I didn't have to declare.

And... if they are in enemy territory you would never have to declare. Yet it too also would also drop them from your bullies list if I remember right.

I defended someone,

Did that someone DECLARE?
Desitrus2008-06-02 17:14:25
No, and it wouldn't matter because PK CAREFUL would still stop me from attacking.

I would love an option along the lines of PK SUPER CAREFUL. This would prevent you from defending someone who DECLARED. Even better would be if it would walk the chain and prevent you from defending if anyone you defended was defending someone who declared. I.E. With super careful on you should be prevented from ever having status gained on you from defending.

This is why I asked.
Desitrus2008-06-02 17:22:45
That's a bug anyway, if it works like that. It would be under one of the loopholes this very thread is meant to address.

Thanks Ild. But the second one is false. Attacking someone in enemy territory now even if you have status on them (they're on your bullies) then it won't drop because if you check PK DEC. you get nothing, but if they do, they have automatic declaration so they can't fight back.

Yes, this is definately how it works. Ways around this are bugs, but from what I've seen, it work very well. It's even worked for my demesne, where people I defend declare others and start fighting, but my demesne never kicks in on the enemies because those I defended declared so avechna stopped my attacks.

I'm cleaning the log up in case the brass wants it, but pretty much I keep careful on and I went to defend, ended up with status through a bleed-out.
Krellan2008-06-02 22:57:53
Good idea. I've found that bleeding out and other deaths that count as "misadventure" cause the most problems with avenger. Like the whole scaling and summoning someone who dies falling off a mountain. Could probably have a similar bypass of Avenger by summoning someone underwater and watching them drown or even attacking and letting the drowning finish them.

At the top you can see me hitting PK CAREFUL when I try to hit Nuurdheg in the Sea. I definitely have it on. Towards the bottom (or if you read the whole thing) you can see that I never declare, but when Ethelon bleeds out I get status.
Krellan2008-06-02 23:53:46
That's really weird. You clearly hit him at 01:22 an then again at 01:26 which regardless of the seconds, it couldn't have been over 5 minutes for the declarations to wear off.

If you hit him without declaring either he's an enemy of the merians or he declared Crystian or someone.

Hrm, but maybe the whole astral to prime from 01:26 and on to his death changed something.

I've never actually checked PK D after being attacked or attacking somone on pk free planes like astral.

But yeah, everything was in time limits, so no automatic declarations should've reset and you obviously defended the entire time. Only thing that lets you attack when defending doesn't work is enemy territory or pk free. You should not have gotten suspect if things were working right.
Desitrus2008-06-04 22:34:30
Middle of a giant group fight on prime, I was defending only, no declaring:

With a heavy overhand stroke, Chade slams a brutal war hammer down upon you. You are smited in the chest and receive a small bruise.
4664h, 3664m, 3990e, 10p, 22950en, 14342w elrxkdb<>-

You execute the Pkd maneuver: SWEEP CHADE LLEG.
Avechna whispers in your mind a warning, and you stay your hand.
4664h, 3664m, 3990e, 10p, 22950en, 14342w elrxkdb<>-

Are you guys looking at the loopholes in this yet?

Nope.

Darthen and Bashara jump Ardmore. Bashara defended Darthen. Bashara can atack Ardmore the moment he attacks Darthen. Darthen dies. I defend Ardmore and come in and slay Bashara. Avenger gives suspect on Ardmore to Bashara and accuses ardmore of helping me slay Bashara.

He got jumped and he got statused

I haven't tested it since the last round of Avenger fixes, but you used to not be able to attack if you defended someone who declared, and I find it fairly unlikely judging by the nature of the changes that that got broken.

Happened less than a week ago. I was called to aide him as he was jumped by two people.. and bashara got suspect on him.

What happened is that someone got suspect. What I'm saying is that there's likely something else that went wrong.
Desitrus2008-06-06 21:46:47
Got it again without declaring. Attacked in enemy territory, made sure timer stayed up, still got it when they died. Never declared.
